Job Summary
The QC In-Process Inspector provides inspection and auditing coverage in all areas of manufacturing, receiving, and shipping. Performs First Article, In-process, and Final Inspection using Romer Arm (PC-DMIS), calipers, bore gages, micrometers, height gage, and any other precision measuring tools/instruments. Document and aid in the correction of discrepancies found in the products produced in each area. The Inspector verifies that the inspection process is in compliance with all applicable specifications, codes and customer requirements and acts as a catalyst for change by actively supporting process improvements throughout the company. Successful candidates will leverage their experience in a variety of inspection environments to help align the function with the company’s vision, values and core business needs, goals and objectives. This position reports to the Quality Manager.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
- Quality department representative in the Manufacturing Cells.
- Familiar with Receiving Inspection, First Article Inspection, In Process Inspection documentation using AS9102 Format.
- Verifies conformance of finished work piece to customer engineering and specifications.
- Approving finished products by confirming specifications; conducting visual and measurement tests; returning products for re-work; confirming re-work.
- Documenting inspection results by completing reports and logs; summarizing re-work and waste; inputting data into quality database.
- Inspecting materials, products and work in progress for conformance to specifications.
- Examining materials from suppliers before sending them to production line.
- Inspecting components, subassemblies, and assemblies.
- Performing quick visual inspections.
- Conferring with vendors and others regarding inspection results and inspection data, and compares findings with specifications to ensure conformance to standards.
- Familiar with the use of Height gauges, Indicators, Ring, Pin, Thread Gages, Go/No- Go instrumentation.
- Keeping measurement equipment operating by following operating instructions; calling for repairs.
- Perform and document the periodic inspection of inspection tools and media used in the manufacturing and inspection of product.
- Ensuring company is meeting the standard codes in the manufacturing process.
- Recording pass/fail grade of products.
- Ensuring that all non-conforming product is correctly identified and isolated until disposition (rework or scrap) can be determined.
- Complete all necessary customer documentation for inspection activities.
- Be a resource for performing First Piece Inspection of production runs in the Cell.
- Review and recommend changes to written procedures, as required, to keep them in line with business operations and customer requirements.
- Performs other duties as assigned or required by the position.
Knowledge Skills & Qualifications
· Highly skilled at interpreting engineering models, specifications and blueprint requirements including Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T)
· Strong mathematical skills including proficiency with statistical concepts, fundamentals of plane and solid geometry, and trigonometry
· Proficient with Aerospace First Article Inspection standard (AS9102)
· Strong understanding/knowledge of CMM PC-DMIS software
· Highly proficient with the use of Height gauges, Indicators, Ring, Pin, Thread Gages, Go/No- Go gages, calipers, micrometers, bore gages and surface table setups
· Good verbal and written communication skills across all levels of the organization

Education and Experience
- 3+ years of experience in Aerospace Manufacturing
- Experience in using Romer Arm PC-DMIS required
- Experience in a manufacturing environment: AS9100 and First Article Inspection.
- Working knowledge of Quality Assurance, metrology principles and ISO standards.
- Ability to work in a high volume manufacturing shop environment.
- Knowledge of safety management and manufacturing methods and procedures
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Office.
- Practical experience in precision inspection equipment and calibration.
- Ability to multi-task.
- Well-versed in NADCAP, AS9100 and ISO Quality Management Systems.
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints.
- Experience with multiple aerospace customer specifications.
