Job Summary:**

The Incoming Quality Engineer at Hitachi, Ltd. is responsible for ensuring the quality of incoming materials and components used in our manufacturing processes. This role plays a critical part in preventing defects, minimizing rework, and maintaining the high standards of Hitachi products.

Job Responsibilities:**

  • Develop, implement, and maintain incoming quality inspection plans and procedures based on engineering specifications, industry standards, and customer requirements.
  • Perform thorough inspections and tests on incoming raw materials, components, and sub-assemblies to verify adherence to quality standards and specifications.
  • Utilize various quality control tools and methodologies (e.g., CMM, optical comparators, gauges, statistical process control) for effective material evaluation.
  • Identify, document, and investigate non-conforming materials, initiating appropriate corrective and preventive actions (CAPA).
  • Work closely with suppliers to resolve quality issues, implement supplier quality improvement programs, and conduct supplier audits as needed.
  • Collaborate with R&D, Manufacturing, and Supply Chain teams to establish clear quality requirements and ensure seamless material flow.
  • Analyze incoming quality data, identify trends, and generate reports to drive continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Participate in new product introduction (NPI) processes to establish critical quality parameters for new components.
  • Maintain accurate records of inspection results, non-conformances, and supplier performance.
  • Stay updated on industry best practices, quality standards (e.g., ISO 9001), and relevant regulatory requirements.

Job Qualifications:**

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or a related technical field.
  • 3+ years of experience in quality engineering, specifically in an incoming quality or supplier quality role within a manufacturing environment.
  • Strong understanding of quality control principles, tools, and methodologies (e.g., SPC, FMEA, 8D, PPAP).
  • Proficiency in reading and interpreting engineering drawings and specifications.
  • Experience with various measurement and inspection equipment (e.g., calipers, micrometers, CMM, optical inspection systems).
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to conduct root cause analysis.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills to effectively collaborate with internal teams and external suppliers.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
  • Familiarity with ISO 9001 quality management systems.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
