ABOUT THE COMPANY
Mrs. Gerry’s was founded in 1973 in Albert Lea, Minnesota. Mrs. Gerry’s is a premier salad and side manufacturer and offers 120 different products which are sold coast to coast. STARTING WAGE: $20.50 – $21.00
HOURS: 6:00 a.m. with varying end time
DAYS: Monday – Friday
DATES: Now through mid August
STATUS: Non-Exempt
SUMMARY
The Quality Assurance Technician will help develop and maintain Quality Assurance procedures, a HACCP plan, and product quality and wholesomeness, while adhering to specifications.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following, other duties may be assigned.
Data collection of equipment setting, salt titration, temperatures, code dates, etc.
Monitor production personnel for adherence to hygiene and sanitation rules.
Assist Quality Assurance function of business by assuring that process, product, and environment will be sanitary, wholesome, and consistent in quality.
Check all incoming ingredients and packaging, record temperatures, and check for quality. This includes frozen, fresh, or canned products.
Make sure finished products have proper code date, recipes are being followed, and ingredients are the proper temperature.
Assist Quality Assurance with any new projects as needed.
Must be willing to learn other Quality Assurance positions and fill in as needed.
Know and follow all safety and quality standards as determined by HACCP and SQF programs.
This position’s primary function is to watch over Mashed Potato Production in the North building.
QUALIFICATIONS, EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
A degree in Food Science or equivalent experience.
Experience in food manufacturing quality assurance preferred. HACCP certified preferred but will train.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS
Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly working near moving mechanical parts, occasionally exposed to extreme cold and heat (non-weather). The employee is occasionally working in high, precarious places, may encounter fumes or airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals. Occasionally employees may be exposed to outdoor weather conditions, risk of electrical shock and vibrations. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
