Job Responsibilities/Duties
Hanford Tank Waste Operations & Closure (H2C), the prime contractor for the Integrated Tank Disposition Contract (ITDC), delivers exceptional performance in safely removing, treating, and disposing of tank waste. H2C leads the nation’s largest and most complex radioactive waste cleanup, including closure of the legacy waste tanks at Hanford containing 56 million gallons of radioactive and chemical waste. H2C is looking for a Quality Assurance (QA) Programs QA Engineer (QAE), who, under minimal supervision will be responsible for providing quality assurance/control engineering services in support of ITDC activities.
Primary responsibility will be the development, implementation, and maintenance of the Tank Farm Operating Contract (TOC) Quality Assurance Program (QAP). Perform annual reviews and updates of the ITDC core QAP documents, including the:

QA Policy
QA Program Description (QAPD)
QA Graded Approach Description
Project Specific QA Program Plans as required.
Ensure the ITDC QAP effectively implements DOE 414.1, 10 CFR 830 Subpart A, American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME) NQA-1, and other contract commitments. Coordinate QAP changes with internal stake holders and ensure effective flow down of applicable QA requirements in implementing procedures. Coordinate with external stake holders, including interfacing with the customer to support customer approval of QAP documents.
Manage the H2C Nonconformance Reporting (NCR) process in accordance with NQA-1 Part I Basic Requirement 15. Develop and maintain procedures, training material, desktop guides, and other implementing tools. Interface with internal stakeholders and provide user support as required. Assist with the deployment and maintenance of NCR tracking databases such as the integrated Contractor Assurance System (iCAS).
Manage the H2C Suspect and Counterfeit Item (SC/I) identification and tracking program. Apprise the company, and DOE S/CI Points of Contact (POC) of S/CI status and final dispositions. Review potential sources of S/CI information for applicability and distribution. Support the S/CI biennial independent assessment as the subject matter expert (SME). Coordinate with DOE Office of Inspector General (OIG) for disposal of S/CI.
Manage the implementation of HASQARD
The following responsibilities are also applicable to the QA Programs Quality Assurance Engineer position.
Provides leadership for quality assurance and quality control support on assigned program(s) and/or areas to ensure that products are designed, procured, and installed in accordance with customer and company quality requirements.
Demonstrates understanding of the application of Documented Safety Analysis (DSA) and Technical Safety Requirements (TSR) and can review and approve safety basis documents.
Possesses and applies comprehensive QA knowledge to the completion of significant assignments.
Technically supervise quality projects or major phases of significant quality projects, coordinating the efforts of technical support staff in the performance of assigned project.
Analyze, evaluate, and plan methods of approach and organizes means to achieve solution of complex technical problems.
Develop, maintain, and report on performance indicators representing the health of QA Program.
Mentor less experienced professionals within the discipline through developing and coordinating work activities.
Compile and write training material and conducts training sessions on quality activities.
Other duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications
Grade 20:
Bachelor’s degree (BA/BS) in Engineering, Science or related field.
Ten (10) years related experience, or equivalent combination of education and/or experience.

Grade 21:
Bachelor’s degree (BA/BS) in Engineering, Science or related field.
Twelve (12) years related experience, or equivalent combination of education and/or experience.
Note the essential duties for this grade level are like that of the previous grade level, however the scope of responsibility is larger, and the expected level of performance is increased.

Desired Qualifications
* Previous experience in Department of Energy (DOE) O414.1D and American Society of Mechanical Engineers ASME NQA-1.

Previous experience in the development and maintenance of quality assurance programs
Previous or current qualification as an Auditor or Lead Auditor
Previous experience in corrective action, causes analysis, and extent of condition.
Experience in the oversight of engineering design, procurement, fabrication, testing, material receipt.
Previous experience with design engineering, project engineering, or project management

Compensation & Benefits
In accordance with the company’s philosophy on compensation for exempt and salaried non-exempt employees, H2C takes into consideration a variety of factors when determining initial grade and salary to include assigned job scope and responsibility, a candidate’s qualifications as compared to internal comparators performing in a similar role, and the external labor market. A salary offer will be made at the appropriate grade level and within the targeted hiring range posted according to these factors. Note a candidate’s prior salary history will not be taken into consideration.

Hiring Range Minimum: $129,063
Hiring Range Maximum: $179,113
