A Junior QA Engineer is an entry-level role responsible for performing manual testing on software applications, creating and executing test cases, identifying and reporting defects, collaborating with developers to fix issues, and ensuring the overall quality of software by verifying that it meets functional requirements, all under the guidance of senior QA engineers; typically involving tasks like functional testing, regression testing, and basic test documentation while gaining proficiency in testing methodologies and tools.

Key Responsibilites

Test Case Design and Execution:

Create and execute test cases based on user stories, requirements documents, and design specifications.

Perform manual testing on various platforms like web, mobile, and desktop applications.

Execute functional, regression, and exploratory testing to identify bugs and issues.

Defect Reporting and Tracking:

Log detailed defect reports in a bug tracking system, including clear descriptions, steps to reproduce, screenshots, and expected behavior.

Collaborate with developers to understand and prioritize identified issues.

Monitor bug fixes and retest to ensure issues are resolved.

Test Documentation:

Maintain test plans, test cases, and test reports with clear and concise documentation.

Update test documentation to reflect changes in requirements or application functionality

Collaboration:

Work closely with developers, product managers, and other QA team members to understand requirements and testing priorities.

Communicate testing progress, findings, and potential risks effectively to stakeholders.

Required Skills/Experience

Bachelor’s degree in computer science or equivalent

Basic understanding of software development lifecycle (SDLC) and Agile methodologies

Knowledge of different testing types (functional, regression, usability, performance)

Ability to write clear and concise test cases

Excellent attention to detail and problem-solving skills

Strong communication and collaboration skills

Basic programming knowledge is helpful
