Jr. Quality Engineer – Plastic Injection Molding (2nd and 3rd Shift) Jobs in Chesterfield, MI at Eclipse Mold, Inc
Provides Quality Engineering support to Quality Inspectors by developing, implementing, and improving methods for product inspection, testing, and evaluation. Collaborates with production and quality teams to ensure products meet customer specifications, regulatory requirements, and internal quality standards. Trains and mentors Cell Leaders and production personnel in measurement techniques, testing procedures, data collection, and quality control processes. Analyzes quality data, identifies trends and root causes of defects, and recommends corrective and preventive actions to drive continuous improvement and customer satisfaction. Supports problem-solving activities, process improvements, and compliance with company quality management systems.
Key Responsibilities:
- Support inspection, testing, and evaluation activities for products and processes.
- Train Cell Leaders and inspectors on measurement equipment, testing methods, and quality procedures.
- Review and analyze quality data to identify trends, issues, and opportunities for improvement.
- Assist with root cause analysis and implementation of corrective and preventive actions.
- Ensure compliance with customer requirements, industry standards, and company quality systems.
- Collaborate with manufacturing, engineering, and operations teams to improve product quality and process performance.
- Prepare quality reports and maintain accurate inspection and testing records.
- Support customer audits, internal audits, and continuous improvement initiatives.
Additional Duties and Responsibilities:
1. Performs all other duties as assigned or required.
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:
1. Extensive knowledge of GD&T and SPC Software.
2. Ability to perform internal Audits
3. Ability to read blueprints.
4. Strong communication skills are necessary to present information in a comprehensible fashion, to company personnel. (Oral and written).
5. Advanced interpersonal skills are necessary to develop and maintain a productive working relationship with staff members, vendors or other services.
6. Proficient computer skills to produce and/or provide quality reporting.
7. Ability to perform detailed data analysis accurately and quickly.
8. Ability to follow oral and written instructions, with superior attention to detail.
9. Knowledge & proficiency in areas of related technology.
Working Conditions:
1. Shop office environment with exposure to moderate noises from shop machines.
2. Extended hours are occasionally required beyond the regular eight-hour workday.
3. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit, stand, walk, and use hands tools. The employee frequently is required to talk or hear. The employee is occasionally required to reach with hands and arms and stoop, kneel, or crouch.
The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 10 pounds.
4. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
5. While performing the duties of this job, the employee regularly works on the computer.
6. Must wear all necessary PPE.
Minimum Level of Preparation and Training:
High school diploma or general education degree (GED). Preferably a bachelor’s degree in quality or engineering. Must have 2 years related experience in the plastics industry and applicable certifications; or equivalent combination of education and experience. and experience.

Pay: $20.00 – $24.00 per hour
