Position Overview:
A Junior Aircraft Engineer supports the maintenance, inspection, and repair of aircraft under the supervision of senior engineers and licensed technicians. This entry-level position is ideal for recent graduates or individuals beginning their careers in aviation engineering. The role focuses on learning aircraft systems, applying engineering principles, and ensuring that all maintenance work complies with regulatory and safety standards.
Key Responsibilities:
Aircraft Maintenance Support:
Assist in routine maintenance, inspections, and troubleshooting of aircraft systems (mechanical, structural, electrical, and avionics).
Support licensed engineers in carrying out scheduled and unscheduled maintenance activities.
Follow standard maintenance procedures and ensure that all tasks are completed safely and efficiently.
Documentation and Compliance:
Accurately complete maintenance records, logs, and technical documentation in accordance with aviation regulations (e.g., FAA, EASA).
Ensure proper tagging, storage, and documentation of removed parts and components.
Learn and comply with company maintenance procedures and safety guidelines.
Learning and Development:
Participate in on-the-job training under the supervision of senior engineers or licensed maintenance personnel.
Develop familiarity with aircraft manuals, schematics, and maintenance planning documents.
Stay updated on industry standards, regulations, and technical advancements in aviation engineering.
Tool and Equipment Handling:
Assist in the setup and proper use of tools, testing equipment, and ground support equipment.
Maintain tools in good working condition and ensure proper storage and calibration as required.
Teamwork and Communication:
Work collaboratively with maintenance teams, engineers, and quality control personnel.
Communicate any discrepancies or technical issues to supervisors promptly.
Support continuous improvement initiatives within the maintenance team.
Safety and Quality Assurance:
Follow all safety protocols and use personal protective equipment (PPE) when working on aircraft.
Report any safety hazards or non-conformances in maintenance activities.
Adhere to quality assurance processes to ensure high standards of aircraft reliability and performance.
Required Qualifications:
Diploma or Bachelor’s degree in Aerospace Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field.
Basic understanding of aircraft systems and maintenance principles.
Familiarity with aviation regulations (e.g., FAA, EASA) is an advantage.
Strong attention to detail and a willingness to learn.
Good communication and teamwork skills.
Ability to read technical manuals and engineering drawings.
Preferred Qualifications:
Internship or prior hands-on experience in an aviation maintenance or engineering environment.
Enrollment in or completion of an Aircraft Maintenance Engineer (AME) licensing program.
Familiarity with maintenance software (e.g., AMOS, Trax) is a plus.
