About The Department
Technology is at the core of the knowledge-based organisation. It enables MFSA's strategic and operational objectives to be achieved efficiently and effectively.The Technology team leverages cutting-edge technology, industry standards and methodologies to provide reliable services to the rest of the organisation and the financial services sectors interacting with the Authority electronically. It is responsible for technology design, information security, development, integration and delivery of all information and communications infrastructure, platforms and services, working with technology vendors and partners.The Technology team is made up of professionals specialised in relevant areas that include governance and planning, infrastructure and service management, information systems, and security. Officials from Technology also participate and give their contribution in several European committees, expert groups and industry fora.
About The Role
The selected candidate's duties will include:
- Assisting in the development and maintenance of automated tests for software applications under guidance;
- Supporting in the diagnosis of software issues and assisting users with basic troubleshooting;
- Maintaining documentation of incidents, testing activities, and resolutions;
- Assisting with QA activities including test planning, test execution, and documentation;
- Writing and maintaining basic scripts in JavaScript, C#, and Python to support testing and simple automation tasks;
- Working with developers, analysts, and QA colleagues to understand requirements and support quality standards;
- Identifying, reporting, and documenting bugs and issues using test management and bug-tracking tools;
- Supporting application deployments and monitoring activities in test and production environments under supervision;
- Undertaking any other duties as assigned by the Head and/or as may be required by the MFSA from time to time based on the exigencies of the Authority.
About You
The role calls for an academic qualification in ICT or a relevant field of study at National Qualification Framework Level 6, duly certified by the Malta Qualifications Recognition Information Centre (MQRIC) or a widely recognised professional qualification at a comparable level.
If you do not have the necessary academic or professional qualifications but you have at least five (5) years of relevant experience, we would still be interested in speaking with you.
Software testing certifications and scripting experience would be considered an asset.
Skills And Competencies
- Basic knowledge of C# .Net;
- General understanding of unit testing frameworks such as NUnit and XUnit;
- Familiarity with, or willingness to learn, test automation tools such as Selenium;
- Basic exposure to REST API testing and SQL queries;
- General understanding of HTML, CSS, and JavaScript for front-end testing;
- Familiarity with test management and bug-tracking tools would be considered an asset;
- Willingness to learn and grow in a QA and support role.

- Be able to communicate effectively with technical and non-technical stakeholders;
- Possess strong analytical and problem-solving skills;
- Have good written and verbal communication skills;
- Be capable of working within a team and meeting deadlines;
- Be fluent in the English language.
