Laboratory Technician – Core Analysis
Intertek is searching for a Laboratory Technician to join our Exploration and Production team at our office in Midland, Tx. This is a fantastic opportunity to grow a versatile career in the Assurance, Testing, Inspection, and Certification business!
What you’ll do:
Receive, examine, and record inbound items for testing through a log-in process.
Deliver test samples to the sample staging area.
Monitor the availability of supplies needed for testing processes and communicate any needs to Laboratory Management.
Prepare samples and quality control specimens, standardize reagents and solutions, and calibrate equipment for testing processes.
Perform testing of samples and quality control specimens using specified methodology.
Field retrieval of cored materials, core handling, fluid saturation determination, and measurements of petrophysical properties such as porosity, permeability, and grain density.
Field retrieval of fluid samples (gas, oil, water).
Verify and communicate results obtained, making appropriate entries into logs, control charts, calibration records, and laboratory worksheets.
Maintain documentation, equipment, and work areas in a neat and orderly condition.
Assist in the training of less experienced employees.
Carry out responsibilities in support of the Company’s Safety Policy, Quality Policy, Ethics Policy, and Environmental Management System.
What it takes to be successful in this role:
High School diploma (or GED) with coursework in science and mathematics; college-level geosciences courses encouraged.
Prior laboratory experience in core analysis is a plus.
Basic mathematics skills; must be trainable in practical aspects of the job.
Physically able to perform required tasks, including heavy lifting and potential field work at drilling rig locations.
Work safely while handling coring equipment, crude oils, gases, acids, and other oil field chemicals.
Mechanical aptitude is a plus.
Ability to use Excel and Word to record and process lab data.
Positive attitude, high tolerance for job pressure, and ability to work long hours occasionally.
Effective communication skills with diverse personalities and backgrounds.
