JOB DESCRIPTION SUMMARY:
This position is responsible for providing direction and leadership for quality control and engineering reliability within MPP. Responsible for administering the total quality assurance program encompassing the planning, evaluation, and reporting on all quality aspects of a product from its conception through manufacturing, fabrication, storage, and delivery with intent to provide an optimum quality product at the lowest cost. Individual will assist the engineering team to design, process, develop, produce, improve, and test components, products, systems, and services.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Develop and implement uniform quality control policies and procedures.
Coordinate and control documentation process for all quality and reliability requirements.
Advise the Plant Manager on quality assurance issues.
Supervise a group of employees engaged in a variety of quality assurance issues, both hourly and salaried.
Review engineering test procedures to ensure that proper testing is completed and documented prior to new product release.
Ensure proper documentation of manufacturing processes is developed and maintained.
Coordinate customer quality audit activity.
Lead and direct quality compliance programs & Maintain ISO9001:2008 quality management system
Revise the quality system as necessary to continually meet customer requirements.
Establish supplier quality audit programs and training programs at supplier level.
Investigate and provide corrective action for any product failures in the field.
Organize and implement the quality audit/inspection function.
Provide support to functional areas with regard to process and control improvement.
Support purchasing in the development of our vendor base and ensure that all specifications are met setting up vendor audit process and procedure.
Review all new or revised company products to ensure quality standards are met.
Oversee quality test laboratory activities.
Maintain customer and military specification files.
Work with customers on complex quality requirements.
Oversee plant wide statistical process control implementation and maintenance.
Customer complaints & Failure investigation
Support the launch of high-profile projects.
Site visits and direct customer interaction as required
Use problem solving techniques for root cause analysis and implement preventive/corrective action
Investigation of proposed changes including statistical analysis and data gathering
Vendor support
Actively lead and contribute to problem solving efforts to resolve manufacturing issues
Assist to optimize existing processes, tooling designs and other related operations to the part processes, focusing on total cost reduction
Lead or participate in continuous improvement initiatives
Participate and support Lean Initiatives.
SKILLS EXECUTED:
Must be an excellent communicator, leader, facilitator and coach, as well as possess strong analytical abilities. Must have a strong understanding of highly engineered products. Strong sense of urgency and a high level of confidentiality. Solid understanding of how businesses work, including financial literacy and strategy, and recognizes how decisions drive performance. Must be assertive and able to identify system problems and present solutions. Attention to detail and ability to follow up is critical. Must meet deadlines as established. Able to work flexible hours with travel frequently required. Strong problem-solving and analytical skills using statistical techniques. Individual must be a motivated self-starter with the ability to work independently and/or in a cross-functional global work team environment.
EDUCATION, SKILLS AND TRAINING:
Bachelor’s degree in engineering is required. Master’s degree in business or engineering highly desirable.
A minimum of 5 years’ experience in manufacturing/engineering, the quality field, highly preferred in the powdered metallurgy environment. Knowledge of machining, heat treating, tool design & inspection, and process development with knowledge of tooling and fixture design and manufacture. Ideal candidate would be a “hands-on” person with shop floor experience. Customer interaction/communication experience is essential. Experience with continuous improvement activities (eg. Kaizen and Lean Manufacturing) is preferred. Must have experience with Product Part Approval Process (PPAP), Advanced Product Quality Process (APQP), Design Experimentation, 8-Discipline Problem Solving and Stage Gate process.

Position requires working with multi-disciplinary teams and process improvement in all departments and aspects of the business.
Position requires individual to be capable of interfacing equally well with individuals and groups working in all areas of the process.
SAFETY REQUIREMENTS: When required in specific areas. This includes, but is not limited to safety glasses, glasses with side shields, hearing protection, and gloves. Other personal protective gear as required.
