Position Summary
This position is responsible for performing a wide variety of Quality Control functions, which may include routine tests on raw materials, in process set up and the final product. Must participate in the validation of tests, inspections, production methods and material qualifications. Must abide by Company Safety Program and Policies, while performing duties safely. Consistent and reliable attendance required.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following:
Ensures that the proper concrete mix has been produced according to the order, performs slump, air and yield tests, and cast concrete strength specimens according to ACI Standards when necessary, and makes appropriate field adjustments to assure that the delivered product meets customer expectations.
Visually checks concrete batches as needed for obvious batching errors and inspects concrete products to determine whether the product meets the specifications of the contractor.
Report all variances to the proper company personnel when test results indicate that a product has been delivered out of specification,
Conducts aggregate moisture tests on materials used to produce Ready Mixed Concrete.
Communicates with Plant personnel regarding the handling and condition of materials.
Communicates with Central Dispatch regarding jobsite conditions, concrete performance, and customer concerns.
Assists in the material sampling for Nebraska Department of Transportation projects.
Tests products manufactured by Ready Mixed Concrete.
Follow quality control plans or guidelines as assigned.
Communicates significant issues or developments identified during quality assurance activities and provides recommended process improvements to management.
Documents data obtained during all quality assurance activities, to assure consistency with company standards and customer specifications.
Other duties may be assigned.
Education and/or Experience:
High school diploma or general education degree (GED); and
6 months previous experience in construction and/or construction products related field with directly related working knowledge of concrete production, handling and/or testing; or
an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
Certificates, Licenses, Registrations
Valid Driver’s License
ACI Level 1 certification or ability to be trained at this level and be able to complete training and certification process within 6 months of employment/transfer.
Skills and Abilities
Must be able to develop a good working knowledge of concrete mixes
Ability to read and comprehend load tickets, SDS sheets, Mix Design Submittals, and the company safety manual.
Must be able to work a flexible work schedule during busy season including late or irregular hours.
Ability to climb height between 10-15 feet when needed and occasionally lift and/or move up to 55 pounds.
