Full Job Description
The Laboratory Technician I (LT-I) is responsible for the performance of patient testing. The LT-I ensures that all
laboratory procedures are conducted in compliance with COLA/CLIA regulations and works under the supervision
of the Technical Supervisor and General Supervisor. The LT-I follows and maintains knowledge of all laboratory
procedures, excellent communication with all personnel, and fulfills other tasks as instructed.
Essential Functions
Ensure the confidentiality of patient information throughout all phases of laboratory testing.
Performs sample preparations for screening and confirmation testing
Maintain lab established turnaround time.
Adhere to all safety, regulatory, and quality requirements
Properly record results for further analysis and easy reference
Monitor inventory samples and supplies
Maintain a clean work environment
Perform and document all laboratory logs
Identify problems that may adversely affect patient test results
Perform proficiency testing and/or split sample analysis periodically as outlined by laboratory protocol.
Perform all quality assessment as assigned
Retain record of all analytical activities performed for a minimum of 2 years.
Monitor reagent, standard and quality control expiration date
Work under the supervision of a laboratory technologist
Participate in continuing education
Follow all company policies and procedures to ensure quality control
Good attendance is expected of all employees as a normal condition of work

Competencies
Maintain strict adherence to Standard operating procedure.
Laboratory Information System software
Sample preparation for testing
Pipetting skills
Familiarity with common lab terminology
Strong verbal, written and organizational skills
Attention to detail; commitment to accuracy
Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing
Capable of prioritizing tasks to meet goals and ensure product quality
Desire to work hard and meet laboratory expectations; positive attitude
Respect to coworker and management
Willing to meet on-call obligations as needed
Educational Requirements
Associate of Science or Medical Technology degree from an accredited college or university.
Bachelors degree in Chemistry, Biology, Biochemistry from an accredited college or university required
Qualifications
Experience in high complexity testing including sample preparation, screening and confirmation testing required
Experience with pipetting techniques required
Compensation
$22 – $23/hour, based on experience
