JOB DESCRIPTION FOR QA SUPERVISOR ROLE

The Quality Assurance/Quality Control Supervisor is responsible for supporting the quality assurance function of the entire company. This position includes a combination of supervision and active participation in the tasks necessary to ensure that Keany Produce Company manufactures safe and consistent products of the highest quality and that all products are in compliance with regulatory requirements, customer specs and company standards

She/he maintains close working relationships with other department managers and supervisory personnel in order to meet and maintain product quality, identify, solve and prevent problems affecting product quality, maximize productivity, and comply with regulatory requirements.

He/she reports to the Quality Assurance Director.

JOB DESCRIPTION (Applicable for both Keany and Shenny)

Reports to the Quality Assurance Director
Supervises Quality technicians and sanitation crew
Helps QA Director in development, coordination and supervision of QA programs such as Food Safety, HACCP, GMPs, Food Defense, Prerequisite programs
Supervises HACCP Program. Help with the implementation, documenting and monitoring this system with the help of a cross-departmental team and QA Director.

· The Food Safety and Quality Assurance Supervisor is responsible for performing all Food Safety / Quality Departmental practices such as collecting and interpreting SPC (Statistical Process Control) data daily, performing and recording results from all production line audits for HACCP, GMP, and weights and defects, and assisting in educating all production employees in the practices of producing safe edible goods.

Monitors, verifies and documents HACCP CCPs records, other control records, and SOPs related to product quality standards, food safety, and sanitation records for both Keany Produce and Shenny Tomato
Supervises the production of consistent quality products based on specifications
Conduct daily, and monthly inspections and walkthroughs including bi-weekly pest device inspection
Helps in communicating product safety and quality standards to company personnel
Gives support in coordinating all quality and food safety-related activities including process and testing
Monitors the production environment to identify areas where quality or safety procedures can be implemented or improved
Supervises that all QC instruments are up to date and calibrated (scales, thermometers, metal detectors, ATP meter, micro pipettor, free chlorine photometer, Turbidity meter, TDS meter, thermometer calibrator)
Helps in the development of new products
Helps in audits (warehouse, precut, and external perimeter)
Monitors appropriate controls, sample plans, hold/release system, processing controls
Supervises and conduct, when necessary, final product microbiological, physical and sensory sampling and testing
Helps in training, coaching, mentoring, empowering, and developing team members.
Conduct relevant training and education on food safety
Trains employees in quality systems and procedures
Assesses the performance of QA Tech crew
Perform QA tech tasks in the absence of technicians
Perform any task as per assignment from the department

REQUIRED EDUCATION / EXPERIENCE / SKILLS:

· Associate Degree of Science preferably in Food Science or related field (Biology, Microbiology, Food Microbiology, etc.).

· At least 3 years of work experience as quality assurance auditor/technician in food/beverage industry and at least one (1) year of experience in a supervisory capacity.

· A good knowledge of Current Good Manufacturing Practices, preferably 21CFR Part 117, and food safety.

· Good understanding of quality testing within the food and beverage industry to include analytical, microbiological and sensory evaluation. Must possess a basic understanding of chemical and microbiological analysis and basic math.

· The ability to work under pressure (in an extremely fast paced environment), meet deadlines (overtime work required) and make effective decisions.

· Also able to work in refrigerated and wet conditions, flexible schedule and able to move and lift heavy objects

· Basic computer knowledge (Microsoft Office applications) and computer-based applications).

· Ability to adapt to changing organizational and operational needs; ability to lead others through change.

· Ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously.

· Skill in organization and prioritization, and attention to details.

· Strong team player and leader with the ability to work across multiple functions and disciplines.

· Must be able to effectively communicate ideas (verbally and in writing), be a self-starter and handle difficult reporting situations.

· Preferred: HACCP certification, Food recall training and PCQI training

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $65,000.00 – $75,000.00 per year
