The Lead QA/QC Engineer is responsible for ensuring the effective implementation and continuous improvement of the Quality Management System (QMS) in marine construction projects. This role involves leading QA/QC teams, ensuring compliance with quality standards, conducting audits, and driving a culture of quality to meet client expectations.
Key Responsibilities:
QMS Implementation: Enforce company quality standards across all project phases and update procedures as needed.
Team Leadership: Coordinate with the QA/QC team and all quality personnel assigned to the project, fostering collaboration and communication to achieve quality department objectives.
Performance Monitoring: Demonstrate the achievement of quality objectives and targets, regularly assessing project performance against established standards.
Reporting: Prepare Monthly Quality Report with key quality management details for the information of QHSE management.
Quality Control at All Phase: Ensure quality control is applied throughout all project phases, including Engineering, Procurement, Construction, and Commissioning, ensuring compliance with the Project Design Criteria as per PQP and CMP. Review MSRA and prepare ITP and ensure its approval prior to start of works.
Material Control: Oversee the quality control process during material requisition, receiving, and application phases to ensure that all materials meet specified quality standards before and during use on-site.
Training: Produce and implement the Project Quality Training Plan, ensuring that all team members receive adequate training, and maintain records of participation.
KPI Tracking: Develop Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) related to quality, ensuring consistency in reporting to the QHSE Manager.
Process Optimization: Recommend improvements in construction methods and materials.
Vendor Management: Qualify, evaluate, and audit vendors to ensure material and service quality.
Key Competencies:
Diploma or bachelor’s degree in engineering
Certifications in Lead Auditor, CQI, IRCA
Minimum 10 Years of Work Experience in QAQC on marine construction
In-depth understanding of ISO standards, particularly ISO 9001, and principles of quality management to ensure effective implementation in construction processes.
Rock Works and shore protection: Expertise in rock material inspection and testing, rock placement, construction methodologies, and civil works associated with marine works including concreting.
Groynes & Breakwater Development: Understanding of the design, construction, and quality assurance procedures.
Dredging & reclamation Operations: Familiarity with dredging methodologies, equipment, and quality control measures related to marine excavation, reclamation, backfilling and shore replenishment.
Quay walls & Revetment Techniques: Knowledge of designs and construction practices of different types of structures.
Marine Structure: Knowledge of marine structures, such as, berths, Jetties, terminals, piling, precast structures, navigational aids etc
