Position Summary:
We are seeking a hands-on, detail-oriented Certified Welding Inspector (CWI) to join our Quality Assurance team. This role is vital to maintaining welding quality across the organization, ensuring all welds and welding activities comply with AWS, ASME, project specifications, and AS9100 standards. The ideal candidate will be a strong communicator, a team player, and capable of overseeing welding operations in a fast-paced, regulated environment.
Key Responsibilities:
Perform visual inspections of welds to ensure compliance with AWS standards, AS9100 requirements, and project-specific specs.
Review and approve welding procedures and welder qualifications.
Interpret blueprints, construction drawings, and technical specifications.
Document inspection results, maintain detailed records, and generate clear, organized inspection reports.
Ensure adherence to internal quality control standards, safety protocols, and customer requirements.
Conduct internal welding audits and support root cause analysis for welding-related issues.
Oversee welding activities on-site to ensure compliance with approved procedures.
Collaborate with welders, production staff, engineering, and customers to resolve issues and improve process quality.
Qualifications:
AWS Certified Welding Inspector (CWI) certification required.
Minimum 3 years of welding inspection or QA experience in a manufacturing or fabrication environment.
Strong knowledge of welding processes, materials, and standards (e.g., AWS D1.1, D1.5, ASME).
Familiarity with NDT methods and tools is essential (this role does not perform NDT, but understanding is required).
Proven ability to read and interpret technical documents, prints, and weld symbols.
Strong attention to detail, organizational skills, and documentation habits.
Effective communication and problem-solving abilities across teams and clients.
Physical ability to work in a fabrication shop environment and conduct hands-on inspections.
Experience working in AS9100 or similar aerospace/defense-regulated environments is a plus.
Hours & Schedule:
Monday – Thursday
6:00 AM – 4:30 PM
