We looking for an Aerospace Inspector to perform 1st piece, in-process and final inspection on aircraft engine components for compliance with engineering drawings, customer requirements and company specifications before or after manufacturing processes. This will also include performing inspection procedures including checking dimensions of related surfaces, holes, etc., as well as assessment of finish and detection of undesirable nonconformances. They will be required to approve items within specifications and recommend disposition of items not meeting standards. They will be responsible for verifying identification of part and supplier (internal or outside supplier).

Responsibilities:

Obtain blueprints and company specification sheets for the item and particular order.
Visually and dimensionally perform final inspection of major rotating components such as disks, shafts, air seals drums, and hubs.
Work with shop personnel to assist operators in setting up gages, and performing in-process inspections.
Determine the inspection procedure to ensure complete verification of specifications and dimensions.
Obtain necessary fixtures, gauges, and indicators to check parts for compliance with specifications, within prescribed tolerances.
Complete specific assurance checklists during the process.
Perform dimensional checks of parts while in the machine when necessary.
Reject unacceptable items, documents nonconformance, and move the part to the quality clinic.
Complete required company paperwork on machined parts inspection activity.
Verify conformance of machined features using measuring instruments such as a micrometer, caliper, swing gage, etc.
Perform accurate documentation of all inspections (Receiving, In-Process, Final) and work with operators to ensure all requirements are met.
Communicate with co-workers, colleagues, and supervisors to receive instructions and/or guidance and coordinate activities.
Organize and maintain the inspection department, gaging methods, etc.
Cross-train across others in-shop and inspection disciplines.
Work with shop personnel to induct incoming parts and aid in the expeditious shipment of critical parts.
Perform other related duties or responsibilities as requested or required, whether or not specifically mentioned in this job description.
Participate in training as required.
5-10% Domestic Travel required.
Required Qualifications:
Must be a “US Person” as defined by US Government and able to work without restriction with ITAR related data.
Must be able to read, write, understand, and speak English at a functional level.
Must be capable of reviewing internal operation sheets against customer blueprints.
High school diploma or general education degree (GED) required
3+ years’ experience as an aerospace part inspector; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Possess a high level of knowledge to determine the proper method of inspection to be used for each part that is being processed and/or inspected.
Must be able to work independently and efficiently to meet customer requirements.
Expert knowledge of blueprint reading and machinery limitations.
Must be able to read, write, and understand English.
Must have visual acuity enough to be able to read machine dials, gages, Op sheets, and precision measuring equipment.
Physical Demands:
Must be able to lift, push, or pull at least 35 lbs.
Regularly required to sit, stand, reach, bend, and move about our facility.
Preferred Qualifications:
Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos.
Ability to make and assemble gages such as a swing gage, dial bore, etc.
Experience with Shadow Graph and CMM inspection or ability to train on is a plus.
Familiarity with Root Cause Corrective Action tools (5 why’s, Fishbone, etc.)
Ability to read and understand work instructions such as Op Sheets, Engine Manuals, Customer Purchase Order Requirements, etc.
Adaptability to different inspection methods.
