Manager, Lab (TUV SUD America, Inc.; Alpharetta, Georgia):
Duties and responsibilities:
This position will act as Project Handler or Technical Certifier of products for TÜV SÜD America and will be the key contact to proactively provide superior customer service to our customers.
Coordinate technical matters within the site/region for ELS testing on various products.
Represent the site/region as a subject matter expert.
Provide support for growth in service and scope within a specific discipline.
Support the site and region on quality activities including accreditation scopes of sites, standard interpretation, and scope expansion.
Match capabilities to customer needs and ensure a consistent approach to standards interpretation.
Train, support systems and process improvement, and provide sales and customer support.
Support teammates in continuing improvement in processes and quality management.
Work with Account Executives and Customer Service Administrators to determine customers’ testing requirements.
Lead product safety team for the site (Alpharetta GA) regarding technical and financial goals defined for the location.
Be responsible for internal and external audits regarding the product safety team for the site (Alpharetta GA).
Inspect, test, and document products for conformity assessment with international regulations, leading to the certificate of conformance for the client.
Prepare reports and documentation for certification of customer products to the appropriate standards.
Perform related client and project management duties.
Perform Constructional Review, Testing, Preliminary Evaluations, and Certification activities.
Communicate, orally and in writing, with product safety agencies such as UL and CSA regarding product design approaches for safety.
Perform factory inspections and field evaluation services to NFPA, UL, ANSI, and CSA requirements for related products.
Keep abreast of present and future product safety requirements, test procedures, instrumentation, technology, and TÜV America Engineering service capabilities.
Travel to customer locations and perform testing and evaluation of products.
Provide mentorship to lower-level staff engineers.
Advise Sales on the appropriate standards, planned hours, and sample requirements to facilitate quoting.
Support both internal and external audits.
30% Travel required (primarily domestic, limited international) to customer locations for testing.
Minimum Requirements:
Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in Electrical Engineering or Mechanical Engineering; PLUS 5 years of product safety experience.
Must have:
Demonstrated knowledge of NRTL and CB Scheme certification programs.
Demonstrated knowledge of European directives and international standards relating to electrical products including EN/IEC
61010 Series, EN/IEC
60335 series, EN/IEC 60598 series, EN/IEC 60950-1.
Demonstrated knowledge of UL safety standards relating to electrical products including UL 1598, UL 507, UL 325, UL 73, UL 1993, UL 153, UL 1018, UL 1740.
Demonstrated knowledge of ISO 17025 and ISO 17065.
Demonstrated knowledge of NFPA 70 (NEC).
