Job Description / Responsibility

JOB SUMMARY

We are an export-oriented Bangladeshi food processing company specializing in sauces, pickles, and spice powders, supplying to international markets including the EU, US, Middle East, and beyond. We are seeking a highly experienced Quality Control Manager & R&D to lead our quality systems, maintain and advance our BRCGS certification, ensure full regulatory compliance across export markets, and spearhead product innovation.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Quality Control, Assurance & BRCGS Compliance

  • Own and manage the company's BRCGS Food Safety certification — including preparation, maintenance, surveillance, and annual recertification audits
  • Develop, implement, and continuously improve the Quality Management System (QMS) in full alignment with BRCGS Global Standard for Food Safety (Issue 9)
  • Ensure site compliance with HACCP, GMP, ISO 22000, and all relevant BRCGS fundamental and non-fundamental requirements
  • Lead internal BRCGS audits and manage third-party and customer audits with zero non-conformities as the target
  • Drive a culture of food safety and quality across all departments through training and awareness programs
  • Manage Corrective and Preventive Actions (CAPA) arising from audits, customer complaints, and non-conformities
  • Monitor and enforce quality standards across all production lines — sauces, pickles, and spice powders
  • Oversee incoming raw material inspection, in-process QC checks, and finished goods release procedures
  • Manage microbiological, chemical, and physical testing protocols in the QC laboratory (especially salt, pH, acidity, Brix and viscosity)
  • Maintain calibration schedules for all lab and production equipment
  • Conduct shelf-life, stability, and challenge testing relevant to export product requirements
  • Manage food safety hazard analysis, allergen control, foreign body control, and traceability systems per BRCGS requirements
  • Knowledge about food preservation and fermentation is very important and of great use

Research & Development

  • Lead new product development (NPD) for sauces, pickles, and spice powders targeting export market preferences and trends (knowledge in high and low acidity sauces is beneficial)
  • Optimize existing formulations for international taste profiles, label compliance (allergen declarations, nutritional labeling per EU/UK standards), and extended shelf life
  • Conduct sensory evaluation panels and market-oriented product trials
  • Manage pilot batches and oversee scale-up from R&D to commercial production
  • Research new ingredients, clean-label solutions, natural preservatives, and processing innovations
  • Collaborate with sales and marketing on NPD pipelines aligned with export buyer requirements
  • Stay up-to-date with global food trends, competitor benchmarking, and regulatory updates in target export markets

Team & Documentation Management

  • Build, lead, and mentor the QC/QA and laboratory team
  • Develop and maintain SOPs, BRCGS-compliant documentation, work instructions, and quality manuals
  • Manage supplier and raw material approval programs per BRCGS requirements

Educational Requirements

  • Master of Science (MSc) in Food Science & Technology, Food & Nutrition, Applied Chemistry
  • BRCGS Internal Auditor Certificate (essential)
  • HACCP Level 3 or above
  • ISO 22000 / FSSC 22000 Lead Auditor
  • Food Safety Management
  • Skills Required: MS Office, Quality Control Audit/ Inspect, Research and Development, Fluent in English, food Safety, Reporting and Documentation, Laboratory testing, Knowledge on Industry standards, Compliance and Regulatory Affairs
