Position Summary:
Northrop Grumman is seeking a Quality Inspector 1 to support the Deployables Operating Unit in Goleta, CA. This hands-on role will focus on performing inspections on mechanical, electrical, and structural spacecraft components to ensure quality compliance.
Key Responsibilities:
Perform in-process and final inspections (visual, dimensional, and functional) on spacecraft components.
Utilize precision measurement tools such as calipers, micrometers, pin gages, comparators, and Coordinate Measuring Machines (CMM).
Follow inspection instructions, blueprints, diagrams, and customer specifications to ensure compliance.
Make accept/reject decisions and document findings accordingly.
Conduct inspections and testing on mechanical, electrical, or structural assemblies.
Identify, report, and assist in resolving non-conforming material or processes.
Basic Qualifications:
High school diploma or GED plus 2 years of experience in quality assurance or inspection.
Proficiency with inspection tools (e.g., calipers, micrometers, gages, CMM).
Knowledge of Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing (GD&T) and ability to interpret drawings, specs, BOMs, and work instructions.
U.S. Citizenship is required due to contract requirements.
Preferred Qualifications:
Strong computer literacy (e.g., MS Office, inspection software).
Effective verbal and written communication skills.
Team-oriented mindset with problem-solving capabilities.
Prior experience in aerospace manufacturing, mechanical assemblies, or electronic assemblies.
