Job Description:
We are seeking an experienced Material Engineer with 7+ years of experience in infrastructure, transportation, building, or construction projects. The successful candidate will be responsible for overseeing material selection, testing, quality control, and compliance with project specifications and international standards. The role requires strong technical expertise in construction materials, laboratory testing, quality assurance, and coordination with project stakeholders to ensure high-quality project delivery.
Responsibilities:
- Review and approve construction materials submitted by contractors and suppliers.
- Ensure all materials comply with project specifications, contract requirements, and applicable standards.
- Supervise and monitor material testing activities conducted in laboratories and onsite.
- Review material submittals, technical data sheets, method statements, and test reports.
- Coordinate with design consultants, contractors, laboratories, and client representatives regarding material approvals.
- Conduct inspections of material manufacturing plants, quarries, asphalt plants, concrete batching plants, and suppliers.
- Monitor quality assurance (QA) and quality control (QC) procedures throughout project execution.
- Investigate material-related issues and provide corrective actions and technical recommendations.
- Verify compliance with international standards such as ASTM, AASHTO, BS, EN, and local authority requirements.
- Prepare technical reports, non-conformance reports (NCRs), and material approval documentation.
- Support project teams during audits, site inspections, and regulatory reviews.
- Maintain records of approved materials, test results, and quality documentation.
- Prepare comprehensive reports, project evaluations.
Qualifications and Requirements:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering, Materials Engineering, Construction Engineering, or a related discipline.
- Minimum 7 years of relevant experience in construction materials engineering, quality control, or infrastructure projects.
- Professional certification in quality management or materials engineering is an advantage.
- Strong knowledge of material testing methodologies and quality assurance practices.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams, clients, and stakeholders.
- It is preferred that he be fluent in Arabic and English (spoken and written).
Technical Skills
Extensive knowledge of:
- Concrete materials and mix design
- Asphalt materials and pavement construction
- Soil and aggregate testing
- Steel reinforcement and structural steel materials
- Masonry and building materials
- Geotechnical and road construction materials
Familiarity with:
- ASTM Standards
- AASHTO Standards
- BS/EN Standards
- ISO Quality Standards
- Proficiency in interpreting laboratory test reports and engineering specifications.
- Experience with construction quality management systems.
- Strong command of Microsoft Office and engineering documentation tools.
