About the Role

Materials management is a key control function within project delivery.

This role is responsible for establishing and maintaining robust materials management practices across live projects and the Designer Group central stores facility in Kells, Co. Meath. It will ensure that materials are procured, received, stored, tracked and issued in a controlled and efficient manner, supporting programme delivery and minimising commercial risk.

The Materials Supervisor will work closely with Project Managers, Site Managers and Procurement to ensure alignment between demand planning, supply chain activity and site execution.

Key Responsibilities

  • Establish, implement and maintain materials management procedures across all assigned projects and the central stores facility
  • Implement and monitor quality assurance processes for all incoming materials, including inspection against delivery documentation
  • Identify and manage non-conforming materials, including segregation and quarantine where required
  • Coordinate resolution of delivery discrepancies with site teams, suppliers and procurement
  • Ensure appropriate material storage standards are in place across sites to prevent damage, loss or deterioration
  • Oversee site storage logistics, including coordination of security measures where required
  • Manage material distribution to support efficient site operations and just-in-time delivery to installation areas
  • Collaborate with Project Managers, Site Managers and Procurement to forecast material requirements and delivery timelines for major orders
  • Implement and maintain inventory control systems to ensure accurate tracking of materials received, stored, issued and utilised
  • Monitor Goods Received Note (GRN) performance and drive improvements in accuracy and efficiency
  • Identify opportunities to reduce waste and optimise material usage across projects
  • Monitor stock levels and identify surplus materials, coordinating return or redistribution as appropriate
  • Ensure appropriate documentation is maintained for the free issue of materials and equipment to subcontractors
  • Manage the return or resale of surplus materials to suppliers where commercially beneficial
  • Implement and enforce Designer Group scrap management policy across all projects
  • Manage and supervise the Designer Group stores facility in Kells, Co. Meath

Candidate Requirements

  • Proven experience in materials management, logistics or site operations within construction or M&E contracting environments
  • Strong understanding of the impact of materials management on programme delivery and project performance
  • Experience working in a multi-project environment, supporting live construction activities
  • Demonstrated ability to coordinate effectively with project teams, procurement functions and external suppliers
  • Strong organisational capability with attention to detail and process control
  • Commercial awareness, with an understanding of cost implications relating to waste, delays and inefficiencies
  • Experience implementing or working with inventory management or materials tracking systems
  • Effective communication skills with the ability to influence and resolve issues across multiple stakeholders
