We are seeking a detail-oriented and highly skilled First Article Inspection (FAI) Reviewer to join our team. The FAI Reviewer will be responsible for reviewing and verifying the accuracy and compliance of first article inspections on parts and assemblies in accordance with customer specifications, engineering drawings, and industry standards. This role ensures that the initial production run meets all quality requirements and is in line with the defined manufacturing processes.

This is an on-site position located in Cedar Rapids, IA. The candidate must live at a commutable distance from our Cedar Rapids site.

What You Will Do

Review First Article Inspections (FAI) for new or modified parts, assemblies, or materials.
Review engineering drawings, specifications, and other technical documents to ensure that all requirements are met.
Inspect parts for conformance to dimensional, material, and functional specifications.
Uses predetermined methods, operations, setups and prescribed specifications to inspect arriving, in-process and completed products for conformance to engineering requirements. Uses a variety of measuring devices, testing equipment, and statistical control processes. Performs in-process, final bench and product feature inspections.
Compile and maintain detailed FAI reports and documentation for customer and internal review.
Communicate effectively with design, manufacturing, and quality teams to resolve any discrepancies or non-conformities.
Verify that proper processes are in place for production and that they are adhered to during the first production run.
Ensure compliance with industry standards, regulatory requirements, and company policies.
Work closely with production teams to ensure any adjustments or corrections are implemented before mass production.
Assist in training and providing guidance to other team members regarding FAI procedures and best practices.
Continuously improve the FAI process by identifying areas for efficiency improvements.
Respond on urgent and priority items accordingly.
Performs inspections and conducts special process assessments or audits. Types of special process specifications include but are not limited to NDT, heat treat, welding, brazing, plating, and chemical processing.
Performs a variety of activities relating to the testing performed by other quality functions. Performs functional testing of products to ensure proper functioning of electrical, mechanical, and chemical performance. Oversight and inspection of parts, materials and processes.

Qualifications You Must Have

Typically requires a University Degree and minimum 2 years of prior relevant experience or an Advanced Degree in a related field
Proven experience in quality control, inspection, or related fields.
U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are authorized to access information under this program/contract

Qualifications We Prefer

Knowledge of First Article Inspection requirements (AS9102, PPAP, etc.).
Strong understanding of engineering drawings, blueprints, and technical specifications.
Proficiency in using measuring tools and equipment (calipers, micrometers, height gauges, etc.).
Detail-oriented with excellent organizational and documentation skills.
Ability to analyze and interpret data, making sound decisions based on findings.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills to interact with different teams effectively.
Experience with quality management systems (QMS) and ERP systems is a plus.

The salary range for this role is 66,000 USD – 130,000 USD. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels. RTX considers several factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to, the role, function and associated responsibilities, a candidate’s work experience, location, education/training, and key skills.
