We are seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Merchandise Inspector to join our warehouse operations team.
The Merchandise Inspector is responsible for inspecting incoming and outgoing merchandise to verify quantity, condition, labeling, packaging, and documentation. This position plays an important role in identifying discrepancies or damaged merchandise and ensuring that shipments meet company and customer requirements.
Key Responsibilities
- Inspect incoming and outgoing merchandise for quantity, condition, damage, packaging, labeling, and accuracy.
- Verify merchandise against packing lists, shipping documents, purchase orders, and other supporting documentation.
- Identify and report shortages, overages, damaged merchandise, incorrect items, or other discrepancies.
- Document inspection results accurately and maintain proper records.
- Take photographs and prepare reports when damaged or non-conforming merchandise is identified.
- Verify that merchandise is properly labeled, packaged, and prepared for storage or shipment.
- Coordinate with the Warehouse teams to resolve discrepancies.
- Assist with receiving, staging, sorting, and organizing merchandise as needed.
- Follow established warehouse procedures and customer-specific inspection requirements.
- Maintain an organized and safe inspection/work area.
- Follow all company safety policies and warehouse procedures.
- Communicate inspection issues promptly to supervisors and appropriate departments.
- Assist with inventory counts and merchandise verification when required.
- Perform other warehouse-related duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- Minimum 3 years of experience in merchandise inspection
- Strong knowledge of warehouse receiving and shipping procedures.
- Experience identifying damaged, incorrect, or non-conforming merchandise.
- Ability to read and verify shipping and receiving documentation.
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
- Good organizational and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Basic computer skills and ability to enter or review warehouse information electronically.
- Ability to communicate effectively with supervisors and coworkers.
- Bilingual English/Spanish preferred.
