Job Summary:
- Managing calibration schedule of gauges and performing some yearly verifications. Inspection of primarily plastic components for defects related to molding and assembly at press / trim / assembly. Inspection of parts is primarily visual, but use of Calipers, Novometer, or other tooling is required. SPC Charting and other information could be recorded in SAP and labels made from SAP as part of job.
Job Duties:
- Work with venders to send equipment out for calibration
- Perform yearly verification of the equipment
- Inspect parts for defects per visual aid or other documentation.
- Record results
- Create box labels
- Other jobs as needed
Minimum Qualifications:
- Ability to read part prints
- Experience with defects coming from molding plastic or rubber parts.
- Ability to diagnose issues
- Good understanding of when to escalate issues
- Minor Computer skills (able to navigate computer to app and follow instructions).
- Attention to detail.
- Self-motivated
- Good Attendance
- Able to work with little supervision
- Ability to remain flexible to changes in scheduled components and/or inspection method.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Metrology experience in some capacity
- Trained on use of Calipers, Novometer, or other measurement equipment.
- Experience with rubber molding for injection, compression, transfer, and extrusion defects.
- Experience with plastic blow molding defects.
- Familiarity with SAP
- Experience with AQE sampling rates
- Experience with SPC charting
- Familiarity with measurement equipment
- Understanding of proper containment processes for suspect / nonconforming material
Working Conditions:
- Job requires frequent lifting of 10-25 lbs with occasional lifting/moving up to 50 lbs which could be below waist height due to palletization.
- Constant standing or walking is expected as inspection occurs. Inspections can include usage of hands, arms, or other tools to reach into parts to feel for objects or measure. Employee will occasionally be expected to be able to step up or down steps, stoop, kneel, crouch, talk, or hear instructions or directions.
- The employee must demonstrate an acceptable level of vision acuity, as evidenced by the initial employment physical to safely operate assigned equipment, and accurately read measuring devices. Correctable vision shall not be less than that required for a Michigan Driver’s License.
Pay: $20.00 – $30.00 per hour
