We are looking for a practical Quality Engineer to assist with dimensional metrology and quality assurance tasks in our production facility. Your primary focus will involve managing CMM operations, utilizing 3D scanning technology, applying GD&T principles, and resolving dimensional discrepancies directly on the shop floor.
Core Responsibilities
- Develop and run programs for CMM machinery
- Execute dimensional assessments and 3D scanning tasks
- Verify that produced parts align with established engineering blueprints and specifications
- Analyze and apply GD&T standards to interpret technical drawings
- Evaluate measurement data to identify and address non-conforming components
- Resolve technical challenges related to measurement and inspection processes
- Collaborate with engineering and production teams to identify the root cause of quality deviations
- Provide support for quality initiatives during new product launches and ongoing production
- Analyze persistent defects to help the team implement effective corrective measures
- Ensure all necessary quality records are accurately completed and stored
- Provide assistance in resolving quality-related inquiries from customers
Required Qualifications
- Minimum of 3 years working in metrology, CMM inspection, or related manufacturing quality roles
- Proven proficiency in setting up and running CMM equipment
- Background in 3D scanning is highly desirable
- Comprehensive knowledge of GD&T standards
- Capability to interpret complex engineering prints and schematics
- Proven track record of diagnosing and fixing dimensional or manufacturing errors
- Knowledge of standard quality procedures within automotive or industrial manufacturing
- Willingness to work directly on the production floor
- High level of precision and analytical problem-solving ability
Preferred Experience
- Background in high-volume or automotive manufacturing environments
- Familiarity with welding, stamping, machining, or fabrication processes
- Proficiency in metrology software such as PC-DMIS, Calypso, PolyWorks, or Geomagic
- Knowledge of quality core tools including PPAP, APQP, MSA, and Gage R&R
- Technical or engineering degree, though extensive practical experience is equally valued
