POSITION OBJECTIVE
The Quality Control Tech is responsible for ensuring the quality of product produced meets or exceeds the Forté Products Acceptance Criteria standard and any customer requirements, specifications, and standards. The Quality Control Tech will monitor product during the assigned shift for all stages of production, perform dock audits for all products, assist in training of production personnel in quality standards, and lead by example in the areas of Safety, Quality, Attendance, Attitude, Flexibility in the job, and Problem Solving.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Maintain a safe work environment
Consistently lead by example and act as a team player
Identify inspection requirements of material and components received, administer necessary inspections, and identify status of product
Conduct inspections at each machine for in-process product
Conduct Final Inspections of product prior to being transferred to RTS storage
Conduct Dock Audits on RTS good prior to ship
Administer Nonconforming Product Procedure
Identify correct status of product according to color coding system
Maintain inspection documents, other Controlled Documents, and QMS documents organized and properly filed
Prioritize daily, weekly, and monthly workload to effectively cover all requirements of the job description
Maintain all testing results accurately and legibly on the proper forms
Assist in training personnel in quality standards
Assist in ensuring that the requirements listed in the Forte’ Products Quality Manual are understood
Perform machine and process audits
Monitor the usage of Work Instructions, BOMs and scrap reporting documents/procedures
Communicate with coworkers for any issues regarding quality
Perform laboratory testing as needed, according to established standards
Maintain records of laboratory testing in a correct, clear, and legible manner and in accordance with Forte’ Products internal document control procedures
Assist engineering in developing/updating Work Instructions using customer criteria, drawings, and internal standards that are clear, concise, and use Forte’ Products standard verbiage
Modify existing Work Instructions using Forte’ Products internal document control procedures, when needed
Issue Quality Alerts to production using customer criteria, drawings, and internal communication
Assist in the development of First Article parts and generate correct documents
Assist in investigations of defect occurrences, development of countermeasures, and monitoring of countermeasure effectiveness
Assist in data input for purpose of defect analysis and reporting
Assists in training of Quality Control Inspectors
Leads Corrective Action teams as assigned
Exercise initiative and leadership
SKILLS AND ABILITIES REQUIRED
Knowledge and experience using measuring devices, calipers, rulers, micrometers, ultra sound thickness, infrared temperature guns, stop watch, etc.
Ability to identify calibration status of instruments and understand the calibration procedure
Ability to work with limited supervision
Ability to maintain excellent safety and attendance records
Ability to effectively communicate with employees, management and customers in a courteous manner
Ability to maintain a safe, clean, and organized work area
Ability to maintain a flexible work schedule, including overtime
Ability to understand current processes used
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
High school education, GED, or equivalent experience
Knowledge of all product/part acceptance criteria, including Forte’ Products acceptance criteria
Knowledge of all fixtures and devices required to manufacture a quality product
Experience using part measuring devices, calipers, ruler, micrometers, Ultrasound Thickness infrared Temperature Gun, Thermocouple Thermometer, Stopwatch and others
Working knowledge of new quality skills and development
Knowledge of computer use (Microsoft Office, Excel, Access, and Team proficient)
Knowledge of 5S requirements
ENVIRONMENT
Employee will perform duties indoors throughout the non-climate-controlled general production area and occasionally in the office area.
Employee must continuously remain in a stationary position and be readily able to move throughout the production area.
Employee must be able to ascend and descend to different levels of the building.
Employee will occasionally move short distances in the facility during the course of the scheduled shift.
Employee will frequently move objects from one level to another, up to 50 lbs.
Employee will frequently move objects, requiring up to 30 lbs. of force.
Employee will frequently move or transport objects, up to 20 lbs., at or above shoulder level.
Employee will frequently move and place objects in varying sizes.
Employee will frequently retrieve or move objects to or away from body.
Employee will occasionally position oneself to retrieve objects from a lower level.
