JOB SUMMARY:

Under direct supervision, execute a variety of tasks for identifying and analyzing product performance quality issues. Collaborate with the Quality Assurance staff and support the evaluation of non-conforming products, visual inspection of finished goods/materials, data collection and entry, and general project support activities.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES and/or RESPONSIBILITIES:

1. Participates in capability studies through the generation of dimensional measurements on parts and materials.

2. Gathers and inputs data concerning wet test results and uploads to JD Edwards.

3. Creates “tests” in JD Edwards and links them to raw material part numbers to facilitate the receiving inspection process within the organization.

4. Maintains boron rejection evaluation by entering lab test results into spreadsheets to calculate corresponding boron rejection values.

5. Contributes to the evaluation of non-conforming products through liaison with logistics in finished goods inventory returns, visual inspections, and segregation of product.

6. Works with the Quality Assurance staff and helps in the preparation of element autopsies such as dying and de-shelling elements.

7. Supports departmental staff in product certification programs such as NSF, etc.

8. Participates in internal audits of Quality Management System as directed.

9. Performs instrument and gauge calibrations as directed, can independently perform required calibrations of basic measurement devices used in QC Manufacturing, Analytical Lab (analog and digital temperature, pressure, pH, conductivity, force/weight, etc.).

10. Provides support for incoming raw material QC inspection, acting as backup/alternate to regular inspectors(s) as needed.

11. Other duties as assigned.

MINIMUM EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:

1. High School diploma or GED and 3 years’ related experience within a manufactured product inspection/technical support environment; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

2. Manufacturing water industry experience a plus.

The following are desirable:

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS and/or ABILITIES:

1. Data entry skills with a high degree of accuracy; familiarity with JD Edwards preferred.

2. Ability to use measurement tools and accurately interpret and record findings.

3. Perform basic mathematical computations such as adding, subtracting, dividing, and multiplying.

4. Ability to read, comprehend and follow moderately complex verbal and written instructions such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions and procedure manuals.

5. Basic to intermediate ability to apply critical thinking skills and apply logic and reasoning. Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral or diagram forms.

6. Ability to operate and calibrate digital hand-held instruments (calipers, temperature, pH, conductivity/salinity, etc.).

7. Ability to multi-task and remain flexible in responding to rapid change in projects and tasks and meet deadlines.

8. Work independently and foster a cooperative spirit within a large and/or small team.

9. Basic ability to use Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, and Outlook) applications, as well as desktop electronic gauge tracking system.

The following are preferred:

CERTIFICATES and/or LICENSES:

1. American Society for Quality (ASQ) – Certified Calibration Technician (CCT) – after 5 years’ experience

2. ASQ – Certified Quality Technician (CQT) – after 4 years’ experience

3. ASQ – Certified Quality Inspector (CQI)

9. Color vision (ability to identify and distinguish colors) is required frequently to identify membrane quality issues and to identify changes to chemicals used in the process.

10. Peripheral vision (ability to observe an area that can be seen up/down or left/right while eyes are fixed on a point) is required frequently to be able to drive a forklift as well as monitor equipment.

11. Depth vision (three-dimensional vision, ability to judge distances and spatial relationships) is required on a frequent basis to judge tank fluid levels along with forklift operation.

12. Must be able to hear alarms, buzzers, horns, conversations.

13. Must be able to learn to operate a forklift.

14. Must be able to be medically qualified to wear respiratory protection.

15. The noise level in the work environment is usually low to moderate.

16. May occasionally be exposed noise levels of over 80 decibels.

17. Must be able to work extended hours per the demands of the business.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $25.00 – $28.00 per hour

Expected hours: No less than 40 per week
