Medical Laboratory Technician – Blood Bank
Location: Athena Medtech
Department: Clinical Laboratory
Shift: Monday – Friday | 10:00 PM – 6:30 AM | 8-hour shifts
Total Weekly Hours: 40 hours
Position Summary
Athena Medtech is seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Medical Laboratory Technician with blood bank experience to join our Clinical Laboratory team. This overnight position is ideal for candidates who are experienced in laboratory practices and passionate about delivering accurate, high-quality diagnostic results to support patient care.
Qualifications
Experience: Minimum of 2 years as a Medical Laboratory Technician
Specialty: Blood bank experience is required (LRM certification preferred, if applicable)
Education: Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Medical Laboratory Technology or related field (as required by state regulations)
Certification: National or state certification (e.g., ASCP, AMT) preferred or as required by local licensure regulations
Key Responsibilities
Organize and process laboratory specimens by verifying orders, labeling, and sorting samples
Maintain quality assurance by running control tests, monitoring standards, and performing routine equipment maintenance
Operate chemistry and hematology analyzers to provide accurate and timely diagnostic test results
Perform blood bank procedures including blood typing, antibody screening, and compatibility testing to ensure safe transfusion practices
Identify and report abnormal results or urgent conditions to supervisory personnel
Serve as a technical resource for peers and participate in training and onboarding of staff
Maintain accurate documentation and comply with regulatory standards for laboratory operations

Experience with laboratory information systems (LIS)

Pay: $1,565.40 – $1,568.40 per week
