The Oven Operator is responsible for producing quality products by following established procedures without deviation. Ensure all products are produced safely, efficiently, and meet quality standards as set by the company. This role requires understanding related Quality Management Systems including SQF, HACCP, and GMP to ensure safety and quality of employees and products. Any issues threatening food safety or quality should be reported to a supervisor or authority figure.
Essential Job Functions
Contribute to team efforts by accomplishing tasks and improving processes and operations.
Follow GMPs, safety protocols, and work instructions.
Report any quality or production issues to the Production Supervisor/Lead or QA inspector.
Maintain cleanliness of the work area through regular housekeeping during shifts.
Understand and adhere to the company’s food allergen program.
Start up ovens and adjust flames, injectors, and speed to meet quality expectations.
Perform changeovers with minimal downtime.
Recognize when ovens malfunction and notify supervisors.
Complete training for oven operation.
Maintain waste levels at 5% or less.
Understand SPC (Statistical Process Control) and input data accordingly.
Distinguish good quality from poor quality products.
Communicate issues effectively with mixers, leads, and quality personnel.
Troubleshoot and report product or machine failures immediately.
Comply with all Steven Charles product quality standards, policies, and procedures.
Encourage teamwork and contribution.
Understand and manage Quality Systems, including SQF, HACCP, and GMP practices to ensure safety and quality.
Qualifications
6 months to 1 year of experience in food manufacturing preferred.
High school diploma or GED, or equivalent experience/training.
Ability to perform basic math operations.
Flexibility to work various hours and shifts.
Occasionally lift/move up to 75 pounds.
Ability to walk production lines frequently.
