Job Overview
The Piping QC Supervisor is responsible for overseeing the Quality Control (QC) processes related to piping systems within an oil and gas project. The supervisor will ensure that piping fabrication, installation, and testing meet the required standards and specifications. They will also manage the Piping QC Inspector team to ensure effective implementation of quality assurance practices.
Key Responsibilities
Supervise and coordinate all activities related to piping quality control in compliance with project specifications and relevant codes (ASME, ANSI, API, etc.).
Review and approve piping inspection procedures and ensure the correct application of quality control standards and specifications.
Lead and support the inspection and testing of piping systems, including welding, alignment, hydrostatic tests, non-destructive testing (NDT), and pressure tests.
Ensure that piping materials, components, and systems meet applicable industry and project standards.
Review and analyze inspection reports, and implement corrective actions where required.
Manage the piping quality control team, including providing guidance, training, and support to Piping QC Inspectors.
Coordinate with other departments (engineering, construction, etc.) to ensure that piping quality issues are resolved promptly.
Maintain proper documentation of quality control activities, including inspection records, test results, and certification documentation.
Conduct audits and inspections to ensure compliance with quality standards and identify areas for improvement.
Prepare and review quality control plans, ensuring they are up to date and accurate.
Monitor performance indicators to ensure continuous improvement in piping quality control practices.
Support the preparation of final project documentation, including quality assurance reports and piping inspection records.
Liaise with client representatives, third-party inspection agencies, and regulatory bodies to ensure compliance with all applicable standards and regulations.
Requirements
Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering or a related field (or equivalent industry experience).
Extensive experience (typically 5+ years) in piping quality control, with at least 3+ years in a supervisory role within the oil and gas industry.
Strong knowledge of piping codes and standards (ASME, API, ANSI, etc.).
Familiarity with NDT techniques, including radiographic inspection, ultrasonic testing, and magnetic particle testing.
Proven leadership and management skills.
Excellent communication skills (both written and verbal).
Proficient in using Microsoft Office and other quality control-related software.
Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines.
