Job Summary

The Decatur Division of Benise-Dowling Powder Coating LLC is hiring skilled finishing personnel! We are seeking candidates for two key roles on our powder coating team: Experienced Powder Coat Painters and Quality Assurance Inspectors.

We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Powder Coating Specialist to join our manufacturing team. In this role, you will be responsible for applying high-quality powder coatings to a variety of metal components, ensuring a durable and visually appealing finish that meets strict quality standards. Whether you’re operating spray guns, inspecting coated parts, or preparing surfaces, your expertise will help us deliver exceptional products to our customers. Key Responsibilities by Role:

If Applying for Powder Coat Painter:

  • Electrostatic Powder Application: Manually spray powder coating to specified mil thickness with high transfer efficiency on moving conveyor lines and batch systems.
  • Line Utilization & Masking: Hang and position customer products on conveyor lines to maximize line density; apply high-temp masking according to prints/specifications.
  • Color Changes & Equipment Care: Perform efficient booth clean-downs and color changes; maintain spray guns, fluidizing hoppers, and recovery systems.

If Applying for Quality Assurance (QA) Inspector:

  • Testing & Inspection: Perform dry film thickness (DFT) gauge checks, cross-hatch adhesion testing, gloss checks, and visual surface defect identification on cured parts.
  • Defect Containment: Identify, tag, and isolate non-conforming product (e.g., contamination, runs, outgassing, under-cure) to drive root-cause containment.
  • Process Verification: Audit pre-treatment wash stages, line grounding, and customer specification sheets to maintain first-pass yield.

Shared Responsibilities for All Positions:

  • Plant Standards (5S): Maintain the Benise-Dowling 5S system to keep work areas, booths, and inspection stations clean, safe, and organized.
  • Teamwork & Flexibility: Step outside your primary area of responsibility to assist other departments as production demand shifts.
  • Safety First: Strict adherence to all safety policies, proper PPE usage, and safe practices around manufacturing equipment.

Working Conditions

  • Schedule: Standard workweek is 5 days (Monday to Friday), working 8 to 10 hours per day.
  • Environment: Active manufacturing plant floor with regular noise and forklift traffic; high ambient temperatures in summer months due to cure ovens and process equipment.
  • Flexibility & Overtime: Fast-paced environment with changing priorities; periodic overtime required with paid compensation.
  • Lunch: Standard 30-minute lunch break provided.

Employment Requirements & Qualifications

  • Language Skill: Spanish / English bilingual skills are not required, but are highly attractive and a strong plus.
  • Experience: 1+ years of experience in manufacturing, powder coating, or quality inspection (experience working around forklift traffic is a plus).
  • Self-Management: Ability to self-manage, exercise sound judgment, and make practical decisions independently when supervision is not immediately present.
  • Compliance: Strict, complaint-free adherence to all facility PPE regulations and 5S housekeeping standards.
  • Physical Requirements: Ability to regularly lift at least 40 lbs, stand for extended periods, and work comfortably in warm plant environments.
  • Commute: Reliable transportation to Decatur, GA 30035.
