Key Role:
As a Test Engineer on our team, you will play a vital role in ensuring the functionality, reliability, and user experience of software developed for the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs (VA). You’ll work closely with developers, engineers, and testers to ensure that the software meets high standards by conducting rigorous testing, including both automated and manual processes. Your ability to translate user stories and acceptance criteria into detailed test cases will be crucial in delivering a seamless and reliable software product.
You’ll evaluate the software’s performance, generate test data, document results, and collaborate with the development team to identify and resolve defects. This position offers an opportunity to contribute to large-scale projects while refining your expertise in testing methodologies, tools, and practices.
Responsibilities:
Test Planning & Execution: Develop and execute test cases based on user stories and acceptance criteria. Apply manual and automated testing methods to evaluate software performance and functionality.
Collaboration: Work with developers, engineers, testers, and customers to ensure comprehensive software testing. Communicate defects and collaborate on resolving issues.
Testing Methodologies: Utilize Business-Driven Development (BDD) and Test-Driven Development (TDD) approaches. Work with integration, data migration, and UAT processes.
Documentation & Reporting: Document test results, report bugs, and manage defects through Jira or similar tracking tools.
Client Interaction: Participate in or facilitate client-facing User Acceptance Testing (UAT), gathering feedback and ensuring the product meets client expectations.
Basic Qualifications:
5+ years of experience in developing test plans, test cases, and test scripts (both manual and automated).
Must be VA cleared and have an active VA Public Trust
Experience with BDD/TDD and creating automated test frameworks.
Solid understanding of QA and UAT processes, software release cycles, and integration testing.
Proficient in Jira (with XRay or other QA plugins) for logging testing phases and defect tracking.
Knowledge of 508 Accessibility tools (JAWS, Wave, Andi, etc.).
5+ years of experience with Agile methodologies.
Strong knowledge of release procedures and object-oriented programming concepts.
Ability to obtain VA Public Trust-Background Investigation clearance.
Bachelor’s degree in a related field

Problem-solving and conflict resolution skills.
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or Computer Engineering (preferred).
ISTQB Certification (preferred).
Compensation:
