Job Summary
Quality control technicians are responsible for testing materials and finished products to ensure they conform to all applicable laws and company standards. Quality control technicians test products across the three stages of production (before, in-process, and final) to ensure quality levels are met.
Duties
· Ensure a safe work environment in compliance with all safety policies and procedures using the appropriate tools and equipment for the task.
· Properly follow all company policies and OSHA / MSHA regulations for safe working procedures and environment. Report any problems to your manager.
· Follow directions of manager as to daily tasks and expectations for each specific duty.
· Use accepted methods to inspect, sample and test aggregates, asphalt, concrete, or other materials for the purpose of quality control.
· Sample and test mixtures for compliance with contract specifications and quality control tolerance.
· Monitor and test process functions and materials daily to ensure our products meet or exceed requirements of the appropriate agency or customer.
· Prepare and record accurate information; maintain test results data base.
· Assist internal and external customers in a timely manner.
· Obtain required certifications in a timely manner.
· Follow quality control plans or guidelines as assigned.
· Perform general cleaning of work areas.
· Lift, carry and hold materials, tools and supplies.
· Performing safety measures while in a lab setting and break machines
· Maintain records of observations for every structure produced
· Report to production crew, engineer, and management team on process improvements, repetitive mistakes, and quality concerns
· Write a Corrective Action Report for each defective or damaged product
· Assisting the sales team to respond to any customer complaints about product quality
· Ensure correct implementation of our QC program
· Other responsibilities may be assigned on a temporary or permanent basis as needed
· Talking to customers and sales team on submittal requirements needed.
· Performing submittals
· Maintaining vendor records on materials produced and received on a weekly basis
Work Environment
Candidate will work in a Laboratory and on job sites.
Requires working in hot and cold temperatures. Truck cab is heated but may not be air conditioned.
Requires walking on uneven, muddy, and slippery surfaces.
Exposure to sounds and noise levels that may be distracting and/or uncomfortable.
Exposure to diesel exhaust, dust, and water mist or vapor.
Variable lighting conditions, dependent upon available natural light.
Job Qualifications
· Display a professional and courteous attitude to co-workers, supervisors and the general public at all times.
· Report to work at the designated start time.
· Must be able to work overtime when required.
· Ability to perform strenuous work in varying weather conditions, extreme heat and cold.
· Must have valid driver’s license and meet the qualifications of the fleet safety program.
· Strict adherence to safety requirements and procedures
· Willingness to work in a team environment and assist co–workers or supervisors with other duties as required.
· Individuals are required to wear personal protective equipment (PPE) in designated operations and production areas as stated by OSHA/MSHA.
· Must be at least 18 years of age due to nature of working environment.
· Minimum high school diploma general education degree (GED) required.
· TXDoT Level 1B certification preferred.
· Must have QC experience in related industry
· ACI / PCI Certification preferred, or required to pass ACI Concrete Field Testing within 3 months and maintain certification
· Basic computer skills
· Ability to read/write simple instructions and communicate effectively
· Ability to lift up to 40 lbs periodically throughout the day
· This job involves a lot of walking in an industrial indoor and outdoor manufacturing environment
