Role Description The Product Packaging Scientist will work part time in a remote capacity to help product manufacturers use the Origin Detector (OD) platform effectively. Day-to-day responsibilities include reviewing and analyzing product packaging information, and guiding manufacturers on best practices for transparent labeling and data submission. The role involves collaborating with customer support and technical teams to address manufacturer questions, interpret regulatory or industry guidelines related to product origins, and ensure that packaging information is accurately reflected on the platform.

The Product Packaging Scientist will also contribute to documentation, educational materials, and feedback reports that help manufacturers improve packaging transparency and consumer communication.

This position requires regular virtual meetings with internal stakeholders and customers, as well as proactive monitoring of packaging trends and relevant standards.

Qualifications

  • Strong background in packaging science, materials science, food science, product development, or a related field, with the ability to analyze and interpret product and packaging information.
  • Experience working with manufacturers or suppliers, including familiarity with supply chains, product labeling, and origin or traceability standards.
  • Ability to communicate complex technical or regulatory concepts clearly to non-technical audiences, both in writing and in virtual meetings.
  • Comfort working with online platforms, basic data entry and analysis tools, and remote collaboration software (e.g., video conferencing, shared documents).
  • Knowledge of consumer protection, sustainability, or regulatory frameworks related to product origin and labeling is highly beneficial.
  • Relevant degree or equivalent practical experience in packaging science, chemistry, engineering, quality assurance, or a closely related discipline.
