Product Quality Assurance Quality Control (Product QA/QC)

Shape the Future of AI Collaboration at a YC-Backed AI Hiring Startup

About Flowmingo

Flowmingo is a Y Combinator-backed startup building an AI-native hiring platform that helps companies evaluate far more candidates, more fairly, and with far less manual effort. Our platform combines AI interviews, CV evaluation, applicant tracking, and talent discovery into one experience—built to make hiring faster, fairer, and more scalable.

The Role

We are hiring a Product QA/QC to own the final quality bar of the product before it reaches users.

This role sits at the intersection of product, engineering, and real user experience. You will not be here to “check tickets” at the end of the sprint. You will be here to protect production.

Our engineers are expected to test their own features. Your job is to go one level deeper: challenge assumptions, validate full user journeys, uncover hidden breakpoints, and make the final call on whether the product is truly ready for release.

You will act as the product’s goalkeeper. Anything that wants to enter production must pass through your bar. If the quality is not good enough, you push back. If the experience is broken, inconsistent, risky, or incomplete, you stop it. If issues are discovered after release, you drive the quality learning loop so we come back stronger and tighter next time.

We want someone who understands that product quality is not only about “bugs.” It is about trust, usability, completeness, performance, consistency, and release judgment.

What You Will Do

Own End-to-End Product Quality

  • Become the final checkpoint before product changes go live
  • Validate that each release works not just technically, but correctly from the user’s point of view
  • Test complete user journeys across candidate, recruiter, admin, and internal operational flows
  • Ensure features meet business intent, product logic, UX expectations, and release readiness standards
  • Catch the gaps between PRD, design, implementation, and actual product behavior

Drive High-Quality Release Decisions

  • Own final QA/QC approval for releases into production
  • Define what “ready” means from a product-quality standpoint and enforce it consistently
  • Push back on launches when the experience is incomplete, risky, confusing, unstable, or below standard
  • Help prioritize release risks, quality trade-offs, and go/no-go decisions with clear reasoning
  • Verify production readiness for new features, iterations, experiments, and urgent fixes

Build Strong Test Coverage

  • Turn product requirements, edge cases, and user journeys into clear, structured test plans and test cases
  • Cover functional, regression, integration, acceptance, usability, and cross-platform scenarios
  • Identify not only obvious bugs, but also broken logic, confusing flows, weak defaults, poor fail states, and inconsistent behavior
  • Design repeatable test scenarios for complex product flows involving AI responses, scoring, workflows, permissions, and data states
  • Partner with Product, Design, and Engineering early so quality issues are prevented upstream

Push QA Beyond Manual Testing

  • Build and expand automation for critical product journeys and regression coverage
  • Use AI tools to speed up test design, scenario expansion, bug analysis, issue reproduction, and release validation
  • Work on API and end-to-end automation, not just front-end manual checks
  • Support more advanced testing such as load, stress, and reliability validation for key user-facing workflows
  • Continuously improve the quality stack so testing becomes faster, deeper, and more scalable over time

Own the Post-Release Quality Loop

  • Monitor release outcomes and investigate issues that escape to production
  • Lead defect follow-ups with a product lens: what broke, why users were impacted, and what safeguard was missing
  • Help teams convert quality failures into stronger acceptance criteria, stronger test coverage, and stronger release gates
  • Build quality visibility through bug patterns, release learnings, and recurring risk themes
  • Raise the company-wide standard for what “good enough to launch” really means

What You Bring

  • 3+ years of experience in Product QA, Software QA, QC, or product-focused quality roles
  • Strong ability to test products from an end-user, business-logic, and systems perspective
  • Experience building detailed test plans and cases from product requirements, specs, and live workflows
  • Strong hands-on capability in manual testing, plus working knowledge of automation testing
  • Solid understanding of end-to-end testing, regression testing, API testing, acceptance testing, and release validation
  • Strong product judgment: you know when something technically works but is still not ready for users
  • Confidence to challenge weak requirements, unclear flows, inconsistent UX, and risky launches
  • Ability to work deeply with PMs, Designers, and Engineers and bring clarity to ambiguous product behavior
  • Strong ownership, strong communication, and strong attention to detail

Strong Plus If You Have

  • Experience in B2B SaaS, HRTech, workflow software, or AI-native products
  • Experience testing products with LLMs, AI-generated outputs, scoring systems, or adaptive workflows
  • Experience with automation tools such as Playwright, Cypress, or similar
  • Experience with performance testing, production issue reviews, or release process design
  • Experience in startup environments where speed is high and quality discipline matters even more

Why This Role is Different

Product trust is built release by release.

In this role, you are not just finding bugs. You are protecting the quality of the experience users actually receive. You are the person who makes sure we do not trade speed for avoidable damage. You are the gatekeeper of production quality and a key owner of the standard Flowmingo ships to the world.

  • Compensation: 25–35M VND/month (Gross), depending on experience, technical depth, and ownership of production quality.
  • Massive Scale: We aren't building for a niche group. We are building for the millions of candidates currently ignored by the hiring system in the fastest-growing economies in the world.
  • Real Technical Challenges: You will tackle unique challenges regarding bandwidth, device latency, and high concurrency that standard SaaS roles rarely encounter.
  • Elite Peers: You will work alongside team members hailing from top institutions (YC, UPenn, NYU etc.).
  • High Impact / Low Bureaucracy: We are a lean team. You won't be writing JIRA tickets for a month; you'll be shipping features that thousands of candidates use the next day.
  • YC Network: As an early hire at a YC startup, you gain access to the most powerful startup network in the world.

Location / Work Style
