Job Purpose:

The Quality Assurance (QA) Technician Supports quality in standard processes to ensure compliance with standards; works with QA and manufacturing staff to ensure inspection and testing procedures are implemented and maintained; assists in the development of standards to meet quality specifications for goods and services used in the food industry.

Essential Functions:

· Identifies and sets appropriate quality standards and parameters for products.

· Communicates quality standards and parameters to product development team, and other appropriate staff.

· Works with manufacturing staff for the development of HACCP/HARPC Plans.

· Coordinates product testing processes.

· Identifies and analyzes issues, bugs, defects, and other problems, particularly when problems recur in multiple products; recommends and facilitates solutions to these issues.

· Develops, implements, and manages processes to ensure that products meet required specifications for quality, function, and reliability prior to delivery.

· Reviews client, customer, and user feedback.

Works with manufacturing staff and customers to resolve any quality issues that arise.
Supports and collaborates across departments to enhance cross-functional understanding of manufacturing processes and outcomes.
Ensures compliance with local, state, and federal government requirements.
Performs other related duties and ad hoc analysis as required or requested.

Supervisory Responsibility:

This position does not have direct supervision.

Education and Experience:

· High School Diploma or GED required.

· Bachelor’s degree in food science preferred.

· Minimum of one year’s work experience in an industrial or food environment required.

· Three to five years’ experience in related field is preferred.

Licenses, Permits, Certifications Required and willingness to obtain:

· HACCP Certification

· PCQI Certification

· Have or obtain FSSC22000 training

· Have or obtain Food Science/Processing Certification

· Be or become a GFSI or SQF Practitioner

Position Type and Expected Hours of Work:

This is a full-time non-exempt (hourly) position. Typical days and suggested hours of work are Monday through Friday, 8am to 4:30pm. This position is 100% on-site.

Work Environment and Attire:

This job operates in a professional office environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, printers, scanners, phones, photocopiers, and filing cabinets.The acceptable attire for this position is business casual.

Physical Demands:

· While working on work floor, the position involves daily exposure to unusual elements, such as dirt, dust, and/or noise.

· Work environment involves daily exposure to physical risks, such as working around mechanical, chemical, and electrical hazards.

· Position requires the ability to stand; sit at a desk for prolonged periods of time; walk around office and plant; lift and carry packages up to 20 pounds; utilize fine dexterity; and reach, kneel, and twist to inspect in-process and finished goods. Also requires the ability to see, hear, and communicate with manufacturing staff and leadership as needed.

· Personal protective equipment will be provided.

· Position will be exposed to different levels of stress and responsibilities.

· Travel is not expected for this position
