Job Summary:
The Quality Control Coordinator ensures that all cement production processes comply with internal standards and external regulations. This role supports quality assurance activities, oversees testing procedures, and coordinates with production and maintenance teams to maintain consistent product quality. The coordinator plays a critical role in implementing continuous improvement initiatives and resolving quality-related issues.
Key Responsibilities:
Monitor and enforce compliance with ASTM, AASHTO, and company-specific quality standards for cement products.
Perform and oversee laboratory testing on raw materials, in-process materials, and finished cement using standardized procedures.
Collect, analyze, and report data on product quality and process performance.
Calibrate, maintain, and troubleshoot laboratory testing equipment and instruments.
Coordinate with production and maintenance teams to resolve quality-related issues in real time.
Prepare and maintain records of test results, material certifications, and quality documentation.
Assist in root cause analysis and corrective actions for non-conforming products.
Support internal and external audits, including data preparation and corrective action tracking.
Participate in the development, revision, and implementation of quality control procedures and SOPs.
Train plant and laboratory personnel in quality procedures and protocols.
Required Technical Skills:
Cement Testing Proficiency: Familiarity with cement quality tests such as setting time, soundness, compressive strength, and chemical analysis.
Laboratory Instrumentation: Experience with XRF analyzers, calorimeters, moisture analyzers, and other relevant lab equipment.
Quality Standards: Knowledge of industry standards and regulations (ASTM, AASHTO).
Data Analysis: Strong skills in statistical analysis, SPC (Statistical Process Control), and trending data using software tools.
Software Proficiency: Competence in LIMS (Laboratory Information Management Systems), Microsoft Excel, Word, and statistical software (e.g., Minitab).
Problem Solving: Root cause analysis techniques (e.g., 5 Whys, Fishbone diagrams) and implementation of corrective and preventive actions (CAPA).
Qualifications:
Associate or bachelor’s degree in chemistry, engineering, materials science, or a related field (preferred).
2+ years of experience in a cement plant, industrial laboratory, or quality control environment.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Strong organizational and time management skills.
