Join our dynamic manufacturing team as a Prototype Sheetmetal CMM Inspector, where your expertise in precision measurement and quality assurance will drive excellence in our aerospace and high-precision engineering projects. In this vital role, you will utilize advanced coordinate measuring machines (CMM), including PC-DMIS , to ensure prototype sheetmetal components meet rigorous quality standards. Your keen eye for detail and technical proficiency will support our commitment to delivering flawless products that adhere to industry standards such as AS9100, ISO 13485, ISO 9001, and ASME codes. This position offers an exciting opportunity to contribute to innovative manufacturing processes while working with state-of-the-art measurement instruments and CAD software.
Responsibilities
- Perform dimensional inspections of prototype sheetmetal parts using CMM programming, including PC-DMIS , ensuring measurements align with technical drawings and schematics.
- Interpret mechanical blueprints and technical drawings, applying GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing) principles to verify conformance to design specifications.
- Operate precision measuring instruments such as height gauges, bore gauges, micrometers, calipers, and dial indicators to conduct detailed inspections.
- Develop and modify CMM programs for complex geometries in accordance with engineering requirements and manufacturing standards.
- Conduct quality control checks throughout the manufacturing process to ensure adherence to ISO 9001, AS9100, and ISO 13485 quality standards in production environments.
- Document inspection results accurately in quality records, prepare detailed reports, and communicate findings effectively to production teams.
- Support continuous improvement initiatives by identifying measurement discrepancies or tooling issues that impact product quality.
Experience
- Proven experience in dimensional inspection within aerospace or high-precision manufacturing environments, with a strong focus on sheetmetal components.
- Hands-on proficiency with CMM programming using PC-DMIS for complex part inspection tasks.
- Solid understanding of blueprint reading, GD&T standards, mechanical schematics, and technical drawings.
- Familiarity with quality management systems such as ISO 9001, AS9100, ISO 13485, and ASME codes & standards.
- Skilled in operating various measuring instruments including height gauges, bore gauges, micrometers, calipers, and dial indicators.
- Experience working with CAD software like SolidWorks or other CAD tools for interpreting design data.
- Knowledge of manufacturing processes such as machining and tooling for sheetmetal fabrication; ability to interpret mechanical blueprints accurately.
