Job Summary
We are seeking a highly experienced and strategic Purchase Head to lead procurement activities for our CRGO-based manufacturing operations. The ideal candidate should possess in-depth knowledge of CRGO steel sourcing, vendor development, global material procurement, and strategic negotiations to ensure cost-effective and timely delivery of quality raw materials and components critical for transformer core manufacturing.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical / Electrical / Materials Engineering; MBA in Supply Chain or Materials Management preferred.
10–15+ years of experience in procurement within the CRGO steel / transformer core / electrical manufacturing industry.
Proven track record in CRGO steel sourcing from global mills/traders (Nippon, POSCO, Thyssenkrupp, JFE, etc.).
Key Responsibilities
Strategic Procurement:
Develop and execute procurement strategies for CRGO and related materials (slit coils, laminations, insulation materials, etc.).
Identify and qualify global and domestic suppliers for CRGO and other core components.
Establish and maintain long-term strategic supplier partnerships to ensure quality, pricing, and delivery consistency.
Vendor Management
Negotiate contracts and annual rate agreements with vendors ensuring cost savings and favorable payment terms.
Evaluate supplier performance on key metrics – delivery, quality, compliance, and cost.
Handle vendor audits, risk assessment, and onboarding of alternate suppliers to reduce dependency.
Operational Excellence
Ensure inventory planning and material availability in sync with production schedules and sales forecasts.
Work with internal departments (Engineering, Production, QA) to define and maintain material specifications and sourcing standards.
Manage procurement of imported CRGO materials, including logistics, customs clearance, LC handling, and documentation.
Cost Control & Compliance
Track and optimize total procurement cost through cost breakdown analysis, benchmarking, and process improvements.
Monitor global steel market trends, pricing fluctuations, and trade regulations impacting CRGO supply.
Ensure all procurement activities comply with ISO, quality, and statutory standards.
Team Leadership
Lead and mentor the purchase team to ensure effective negotiation, planning, and execution.
