Job Posting Description
The Laboratory Assistant:
Monitors and maintains laboratory supplies in technologist work areas; restocks supplies if necessary. Checks all storage areas in laboratory for any surplus stock and distributes accordingly.
Maintains and performs preventative maintenance on major laboratory equipment. Performs and documents quality control on laboratory equipment.
Files routine laboratory reports, donor lab work cards and patient transfusion records.
Prepares and stocks any necessary technical forms and specimen numbers.
Maintains the cleanliness and tidiness of the laboratory.
To Qualify, you must have:
An High School / GED degree required
Skills to follow directions, read, add and subtract numbers, and make comparisons between numbers and letters, use basic equipment.
Ability to work independently.
Ability to understand and respond to simple written or verbal instructions. Incumbents must respond appropriately to instructions, questions or requests for information.
Occasionally requires contact with patients and/or visitors, which involves courtesy.
