About The Role
The Firmware QA Analyst is a critical hands-on role dedicated to ensuring the quality and reliability of our cutting-edge traffic operations products. You will collaborate closely with the development and QA teams to validate releases, enhance testing processes, and guarantee that our technology consistently meets high standards of quality and functionality. Your responsibilities will include examining requirements for upcoming features, performing exploratory testing, reproducing customer-facing issues, and supporting the continuous improvement of our testing methodologies.
This position offers a hybrid work environment, primarily based at our headquarters in Kitchener, Ontario, with some flexibility to work remotely. The ideal candidate will have a strong interest in learning on the job, several years of experience in firmware or software testing, and comfort working with hardware devices in a fast-paced, collaborative setting.
Qualifications
- Minimum of 2+ years of experience in firmware or software QA testing, particularly in environments integrating code with physical hardware
- Proficiency in debugging failed test cases and identifying root causes across hardware, firmware, and software layers
- Experience working with Linux environments and scripting in Python
- Hands-on experience with automated and manual testing tools
- Strong ability to write clear, concise test plans and test cases
- Experience in bug tracking, recording, and documentation
- Passion for quality assurance and a detail-oriented mindset
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Curiosity and collaborative problem-solving skills
- Ability to adapt quickly in a rapid delivery environment
Responsibilities
- Validate functional standards through manual and automated testing to ensure product quality and functionality
- Develop and maintain automated and manual test cases, verification plans, and test configurations
- Support rapid build, test, and deployment cycles to facilitate continuous integration
- Propose and implement new testing workflows to improve bug detection and overall quality
- Review requirements and provide constructive feedback during the design and development phases
- Investigate and diagnose failures, communicating findings effectively to cross-functional teams
- Assist in troubleshooting hardware, firmware, and software issues to identify root causes
- Contribute to the improvement of testing strategies and documentation practices
