Responsibilities:
Develops and implements the strategic vision for quality and performance improvement aligned with the mission, vision and values of Newport Healthcare and its affiliated behavioral health treatment programs.
Leads the design, execution, and monitoring of quality and performance improvement initiatives, ensuring alignment with regulatory requirements and Company policies.
Responsible for effective development, implementation, and monitoring of the organization’s quality improvement system, including enterprise-wide Joint Commission standards.
Monitors key safety incidents and actively works with local leadership to develop and implement high reliability protocols to reduce patient safety incidents.
Works with Clinical, Operational and Compliance teams to develop enterprise-wide policies and procedures to improve patient safety.
Collaborates with Operations and Clinical leadership to develop quality and performance KPIs and integrate quality improvement initiatives across all departments and services.
Serves as internal quality performance improvement expert to senior leaders to assure the independence and transparency of the Company’s quality and performance improvement activities, to reinforce messaging that safety and quality are Company priorities, and to ensure there is broad access to the resources needed to maintain an effective quality and performance improvement program.
Maintains and advances quality and regulatory knowledge through continually keeping abreast of regulatory changes impacting the Company’s business.
Develops an annual Quality and Performance Improvement plan and provides regular updates to Company management on the Company’s Quality and Performance Improvement activity.
Fosters a culture of accountability, excellence, and continuous improvement.
Oversees the facilitation, evaluation, development of corrective action and quality improvement plans, including clinical outcomes, patient safety and service quality.
Utilizes data analytics to identify areas for improvement, track progress, and report on key quality indicators
Ensures the standardization of root cause analyses processes and performs quality assurance across the organization and synthesizes root cause analyses findings monthly.
Facilitates systemic root cause analyses for significant patterns and trends.
Collaborates with Company leadership to identify and disseminate clinical and industry best practices with respect to workplace and patient safety.
Collaborates with clinical and operational leaders to streamline processes, improve patient safety and enhance the client experience.
Monitors, measures, and assesses the effectiveness of performance improvement initiatives and makes adjustments as necessary to achieve desired outcomes and to ensure strategies are effective.
With the goal of improving all aspects of patient outcomes and operating performance, works collaboratively to develop and share best practices for improving performance in quality, safety, perception of care, value, and efficiency.
Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
Requires a Bachelor’s degree, Master’s preferred.
Professional certification in healthcare quality or compliance preferred.
At least ten (10) years of work experience in a business setting, including at least seven (7) years of healthcare compliance, quality improvement, and/or licensing experience.
Supervisory experience preferred.
Experience working with the governmental regulatory bodies and managing healthcare compliance policies.
Must have knowledge of wide spectrum of behavioral health service delivery system and treatment methods, including inpatient, residential, PHP/IOP and outpatient.
Knowledge and skills in areas of quality and performance improvement.
Knowledge of applicable standards and regulations.
Demonstrated understanding and implementation of continuous risk assessment and monitoring methodologies, especially in a healthcare setting.
Current knowledge of continuous Quality Improvement methodology.
Must possess sound interpersonal skills, with the ability to coordinate the efforts of, and mediate among, a wide variety of clinical, administrative, and support staff.
