Howmet Fastening Systems is looking for a Quality Tech II, Raw Materials in our Torrance, CA location. HFS is a business unit of Howmet Aerospace, headquartered in Torrance, California. We hold the number one global position in aerospace fastening systems, and we’re the North American leader in commercial transportation fasteners. Our high-tech, multi-material fastening systems are found nose to tail on aircraft and aerospace engines. Our products are also critical components of industrial gas turbines, automobiles, commercial transportation vehicles, and construction and industrial equipment.
General Summary:
Personnel are directly Involved in the inspection of raw material certification against industry and internal standards. The incumbent will use precision inspection tools (micrometers and calipers), industry material specifications, internal specifications and procedures/instructions in their activities to ensure acceptance of product to specifications and requirements. Incumbent may be required to use alloy verification equipment designed to verify the chemistry and alloy type of incoming raw material. Incumbent will use various computer programs to document the review and acceptance of raw material.
Specific Responsibilities:
Enter data into various systems to document review
Perform Dimensional Inspection of raw material using basic inspection tools
Compare certification, or what they gave us, to specification, or what we asked for
Active involvement in process improvement initiatives
Keep work area clean, safe and in orderly fashion
Comply with all safety policies, procedure, and practices. Report all unsafe activities to supervisor and/or Human Resources
Participate in proactive team effort to achieve departmental and company goals
Perform other duties as assigned
Comply with all safety policies, procedures and practices as it relates to office/production working environments i.e. PPE (Personal Protective Equipment) when entering production environment
Light physical activity level performing non-strenuous daily activities of an administrative nature (30 Lbs max lifting may be required).
All shifts may be required to work mandatory overtime to meet business needs.
Skills and Knowledge:
Must be able to read, understand and interrupt industry and internal work instructions
Must be able to use a micrometer
Must be able to use alloy verification test equipment
Must be able to document test results and review materials certifications
Must have attention to detail and be quality minded
Must be able to follow directions and communicate with customer or 3rd party auditors
Must follow all Enviromental safety requirements
Education:
High School diploma or General Education Degree (GED) preferred
Experience and Background:
Minimum 3 years of related experience and/or training
Employees must be legally authorized to work in the United States. Verification of employment eligibility will be required at the time of hire. Visa sponsorship is not available for this position.
