Job Summary
The QA Chemist is responsible for ensuring that raw materials, in-process samples, and finished products consistently meet established quality, safety, regulatory, and customer requirements. The role performs chemical and physical laboratory testing, generates accurate and reliable analytical data, and maintains thorough documentation in compliance with QMS, GMP, HACCP, and ISO standards.
The QA Chemist plays a critical role in supporting production operations by providing timely test results, investigating deviations and out-of-specification (OOS) findings, and collaborating with cross-functional teams to resolve quality issues. Additionally, the role ensures laboratory equipment is properly calibrated and maintained, supports audit requirements, and contributes to continuous improvement initiatives to enhance product quality, process efficiency, and compliance.
DUTIES & REPSONSIBILITIES:
Laboratory Testing & Analysis
- Conduct routine and non-routine chemical and physical testing of raw materials, in-process samples, and finished products.
- Ensure accuracy, reliability, and timeliness of test results.
- Follow approved laboratory methods and procedures at all times.
Documentation & Reporting
- Record, review, and maintain laboratory data in compliance with QMS and regulatory
- requirements.
- Prepare clear and accurate analytical reports.
- Ensure timely submission and proper documentation of all test results.
Quality & Regulatory Compliance
- Ensure laboratory operations comply with GMP, HACCP, ISO, and safety standards.
- Support internal and external audits by providing required documentation and data.
- Maintain adherence to customer and regulatory requirements.
Equipment Management
- Perform routine calibration, verification, and maintenance of laboratory instruments.
- Ensure proper use, care, and availability of laboratory equipment and materials.
- Monitor and maintain inventory of reagents and consumables.
Deviation Investigation & Problem Solving
- Assist in investigating out-of-specification (OOS) results, deviations, and quality issues.
- Support root cause analysis and implementation of corrective actions.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to resolve quality concerns.
Cross-Functional Collaboration
- Work closely with QA, Production, R&D, and Supply Chain teams
- Communicate test results, findings, and quality concerns clearly to stakeholders
- Support decision-making through accurate and timely laboratory data
Continuous Improvement
- Contribute to laboratory efficiency and process improvement initiatives
- Support validation of new testing methods and systems
- Identify opportunities to reduce waste, rework, and operational costs
QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:
- Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry or related science field.
- At least 2–3 years of laboratory experience (QA/QC preferred). Experience in food,
- pharmaceutical, or manufacturing industry is an advantage.
- Laboratory testing methods (titration, chromatography, spectrophotometry, etc.)
- Quality systems: GMP, HACCP, ISO standards
- Laboratory safety and good laboratory practices
- Product quality and food safety requirements
- Basic understanding of sustainability/certifications (e.g., Halal, Kosher, Non-GMO)
- Analytical testing and data interpretation
- Strong documentation and report writing
- Problem-solving and root cause analysis
- Attention to detail and accuracy
- Equipment calibration and troubleshooting
