Data Tester

Location: Remote (Canada)

Duration: 6 Months

Work Model: 100% Remote

Role Overview

We are seeking a detail-oriented Data Tester with strong experience in SQL, database testing, and ETL validation. The ideal candidate will be responsible for ensuring data accuracy, integrity, and quality by validating backend systems, executing complex SQL queries, and performing end-to-end data testing across multiple database platforms.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, and execute test cases for database and data validation testing.

  • Perform backend data validation using complex SQL queries.

  • Validate ETL processes and ensure accurate data movement between source and target systems.

  • Test stored procedures, triggers, functions, and database objects.

  • Verify data integrity, consistency, and accuracy across multiple environments.

  • Conduct data migration testing and identify discrepancies.

  • Collaborate with developers, business analysts, and QA teams to resolve data-related defects.

  • Log, track, and manage defects using JIRA or Quality Center.

  • Analyze test results and provide detailed reports on data quality and testing outcomes.

  • Support regression, integration, and system testing activities related to database applications.

Required Skills
Database & SQL

  • Strong SQL query writing and troubleshooting skills

  • Solid understanding of database concepts including Tables, Views, Joins, Indexes, Constraints, and Keys

  • Experience with Stored Procedures, Triggers, and Functions testing

Data & ETL Testing

  • Hands-on experience with ETL testing and data validation

  • Knowledge of data integrity and data migration testing

  • Experience performing backend database testing

Database Platforms

  • Oracle

  • SQL Server

  • MySQL

  • PostgreSQL

Testing & Defect Management

  • Test case creation and execution

  • Defect lifecycle management

  • Experience with JIRA and/or Quality Center

Preferred Qualifications
