Position: Quality Coordinator

Reports To: Quality Manager

Position Summary:

The Quality Coordinator supports and promotes plant wide quality improvement efforts. Lead and maintain PPAP Process and supporting functions. Evaluate and develop improvement techniques for quality and reliability based on dimensional and statistical information. Maintain and report on the quality management systems using Process Audits (Layered, Company, Customer required, Control plan audits). Works with employees, suppliers, and customers to produce quality products that meet or exceed the customer and plant’s requirements. Coordinates Corrective Action and Continuous Quality Improvement and provides feedback to management and customers.

Essential Duties:

In keeping with the policies and procedures of the organization, along with all relevant legislative authority, the Quality Coordinator will:

Ensure compliance with Customer-Specific Requirements, implementing and maintaining necessary testing procedures and systems.
Collaborate with suppliers to verify adherence to testing requirements and validate supplier PPAP (Production Part Approval Process) submissions.
Lead the Corrective Action Request (CAR) team.
Conduct 5 Why analysis and other problem-solving methodologies.
Draft and manage CAR 8D reports in Plex and for customer submissions.
Perform 30-day audits on completed CARs.
Issue and manage Quality Alerts as needed.
Log, track, and maintain records of customer, internal, and supplier CARs.
Update PPAP documentation as required based on CARs.
Assist in implementing process improvements and monitoring floor quality.
Support the creation of PPAPs, SOPs, and checklists.
Provide assistance in other quality-related functions as necessary.
Ensure that production consistently meets quality specifications.
Offer on-site support to customers and suppliers when required.
Assist with prototype builds, ensuring documentation aligns with prototype checklist inspection processes.
Collect, review, and report SPC (Statistical Process Control) data monthly while collaborating with manufacturing on process enhancements.
Generate layout reports based on collected data pages.
Support the Quality Department with annual fixture and gauge layouts, gauge calibrations, and related activities.
Conduct and assist with capability studies, Gage R, Gage R&R, and other dimensional or statistical evaluations.
Help manufacturing develop job instructions and procedures.
Maintain and update the Layered Process Audit (LPA) website, performing assigned LPAs.
Assist in managing customer issues, including containment activities, root cause analysis, corrective action planning, and submitting responses per Customer-Specific Requirements.
Actively participate in the APQP (Advanced Product Quality Planning) process.
Prepare and submit PPAP documentation to customers in required formats using AIAG core tools.
Ensure compliance with company policies, union contracts, international quality standards (e.g., ISO, IATF), and government regulations.
Define and implement customer satisfaction indicators, reporting insights to management.
Support decisions regarding non-conforming materials, ensuring containment and follow-up measures are executed.
Perform additional tasks as assigned by management.

Education and/or Experience:

The Quality Coordinator must have at least three (2) years of related proven experience in the following areas:

Capable of understanding CMM reports, report generation, analysis, and presentation.
Strong blueprint reading and GD&T abilities.
Demonstrated working knowledge of AIAG Core tools (PPAP, MSA, SPC, APQP, PFMEA)
Must be a highly motivated, service and team-oriented individual with an attention to detail.
Strong organizational and time management skills.
Attention to detail and good judgement / analytical skills, combined with strong leadership skills.
Able communicate professionally, verbally and in writing with team members and customers.
The ability to work well independently and as part of a team.
Preference will be given to candidates with knowledge of CMM programming (PC-DMIS)
