Tests and inspects products at various stages of production process and compiles and evaluates statistical data to determine and maintain quality and reliability of products.
Performs first article inspection and measurement on all machined parts using Coordinate Mapping Machine (CMM) or height gauge, boring gauges, pressure gauges, micrometers, and calipers. Compares all dimensions to blueprints to validate conformity of product.
Maintains calibration database, containing over 600 tools; performs calibrations as required or coordinates with outside vendors to perform tool calibrations.
Performs root cause analysis on non-conforming product; initiates non-conforming material report (NCMR).
Performs inventory adjustments in computer when non-conforming products are scrapped due to employee errors.
Generates an RMA and debit memo from vendor. Ships products back to vendor.
Works with engineering to validate parts from new suppliers. Utilizes hardness tester and optical comparator machine to validate conformity to blueprints.
May act as an internal ISO auditor; Participates in periodic ISO recertification audits from outside vendor.
Plays an active role in investigating and resolving Preventative Action Reports and Corrective Action Reports; initiates Quality Alerts when needed to notify manufacturing personnel about potential quality issues.
Interprets engineering drawings, schematic diagrams, or formulas and confers with management or engineering staff to determine quality and reliability standards.
Responds to quality issues on the assembly or manufacturing line. Performs analysis to identify root cause analysis of non-conforming products.
Maintains Special Request Log as atypical or non-routine requests come in to the quality lab.
Education and ExperienceAssociate’s degree (A. A.) or equivalent from two-year college or technical school and three to five years of related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
