SUMMARY:
Inspect and test plastic components for dimensional accuracy and surface defects to verify conformance to company quality standards. Perform periodic audits to ensure established in-process inspection procedures are effective and consistently followed. Record test data and written inspection reports via computer input and confer with production personnel to determine cause of deviations from quantitative standards.
Pay starting at $13.30 per hour.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
First article inspections, which include visual and dimensional analysis.
Provide support to engineering department for new tools and qualification and other projects.
Use Minitab software for tool qualifications and Gage studies.
Read engineering part drawings, as needed.
Operate equipment, set up gauges, and implement inspection methods and standards for each type of component as outlined in the Quality & Materials Manual.
Perform incoming inspection on parts received from outside vendors & other Silgan Dispensing sites as needed.
Visual color approval of molded components compared to a standard.
Audit molded components’ color to standards during production runs.
Provide assistance to manufacturing for troubleshooting quality-related problems.
Provide assistance for quality control software and Document Control issues.
Perform calibration and Gage R&R studies for gauges and other measuring equipment.
Audit molded components and in-process inspection procedures to ensure effectiveness of system.
Audit finished goods to ensure compliance with specifications per customer requirements.
Audit processes within the Molding and Assembly areas to ensure system compliance.
Periodic testing of finished goods to ensure compliance with specifications & data collection.
Batch review of finished goods for final release.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
High school diploma or general education degree (GED) and 2 years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to effectively verbally communicate with all levels within the plant.
Add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions and decimals. Compute rate, ratio, and percent and to create and interpret bar graphs.
Solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
Use a computer including simple keyboarding, using a mouse and opening and closing computer applications. Computer applications include Excel, Minitab, email, and Babtec.
Must have the ability to pass a Munsell/Hue color test and be able to distinguish shades of color well. Must have ability to read a ruler.
