Job Summary:
This position is responsible for the inspection and measurement of automatic transmission parts to ensure they meet specifications.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Read and interpret part dimensional features from engineering drawings then render judgement.
Responsible for ensuring flow of quality-assured parts to support high volume production
Adhere to Standard Work Instructions (SWI)
Maintain professional, harmonious relations with other employees
Continuously interface with supervisors to communicate problems and develop solutions
Accurately record and report inspection and measurement results.
Continuously train and develop new skills
Analyze and continuously improve processes to increase overall efficiency (Kaizen)
Responsible for effective communication to supervisors by use of Stop, Call, and Wait methodology
Maintain quarantine areas
Interface with, and support, Quality Assurance Specialists for investigations
Ensure mission-ready status of assigned process equipment (Pre-Use Inspections and calibration)
Perform other tasks as requested by supervisor
Requirements:
Knowledge and Skills
Knowledge of metrology and gauge calibration preferred
High degree of mathematical aptitude and familiarity with Metric System
Knowledge of GD&T, Technical Drawings,and Technical Instructions preferred
Experience in fast-paced automotive manufacturing preferred
Knowledge of Toyota Production System (TPS) or Lean Six Sigma preferred
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Excellent cooperative personality
Ability and willingness to work in cross-cultural environment
Ability and willingness to work extended hours on short notice if necessary
Ability and willingness to work weekends and holidays
Sincere comittment to safety-above-all in all tasks assigned
Very high attention to detail and exacting in nature
Ability to understand, follow and implement posted work rules and company procedures.
Sorting/Reactive Quality experience is highly preferred
Intermediate knowledge of Microsoft Office products (Word, Excel, and PowerPoint) preferred
Ability to accept constructive criticism, posses a desire to grow, and posses a openness to change
Work Environment
Clean, year-round climate-controlled environment with occasional exposure to dust, noise, oils, greases, grinding debris, compressed air, metal shavings, solvents and less-occasional exposure to acids.
Exposed to hazardous machinery and/or conditions.
Exposed to shop elements such as noise, dust, odors, fumes, oils. The performance of this position normally requires exposure to a typical manufacturing areas where, under certain conditions, require the use of personal protective equipment beyond safety shoes and safety glasses (all necessary PPE provided)
May occasionally be required to assume awkward physical postures for prolonged periods of time in the course of sorting or rework activities.
Open staff room with constant activity and interaction with cross-functional divisions, departments, and sections.
