Quality Assurance
(QA)/Non-Destructive Testing (NDT) Inspector – Shipyard
Position Overview:
Seeking a practical, field-oriented Quality Assurance and Non-Destructive Testing Inspector to join our shipyard team. Ideal candidates must hold a current ASNT VT Level II certification and have hands-on NAVSEA shipyard inspection experience. Familiarity with Work Authorization Forms (WAF), Initial Compartment Inspections (ICI), and comfort working outdoors in varied weather conditions is essential. Additional certifications (PT, MT, UT) are beneficial but not required.
Responsibilities:
Conduct visual inspections according to ASNT VT Level II standards.
Perform Initial Compartment Inspections (ICI) during dry docking periods.
Document compartment conditions and identify necessary repairs.
Ensure compliance with NAVSEA requirements and internal quality standards.
Verify and coordinate Work Authorization Form (WAF) documentation.
Comfortably work outdoors and aboard vessels in various weather conditions, handling physical tasks related to inspection work.
Requirements:
Current ASNT VT Level II Certification (required).
Direct experience in NAVSEA shipyard environments.
Familiarity with WAF procedures and Initial Compartment Inspections (ICI).
Ability to clearly document findings and communicate effectively with teams.
Physically capable of performing inspections in confined spaces, heights, and outdoor environments.
Additional ASNT certifications in PT (Liquid Penetrant), MT (Magnetic Particle), and UT (Ultrasonic) are advantageous but not mandatory.
